Major on 10 November 1846 at St. Mary's, Auglaize Co., Ohio.1 Reynolds Knox Lytle married Mary Sprague on 17 May 1866 at Wayne Co., Ohio.1 Reynolds Knox Lytle married Isabelle R. Harn, daughter of Denton Harn and Rachel Ruth Pickett, on 10 May 1876 at Shelby Co., Ohio.2 Reynolds Knox Lytle died on 9 November 1890 at Ohio at age 71. He was buried at Westside Cemetery, Delphos, Van Wert Co., Ohio.
Marriage Record had last name at LYTLE.

R. K. LYTLE, banker and manufacturer, Delphos, was born in Stark County, Ohio, February 17, 1819 ; son of Robert and Hannah (Knox) Lytle, former of Irish, latter of Scotch descent They were parents of the following children : James, deceased, leaving a family at St. Mary's, Ohio ; Mary, who became the wife of David Williams, both of whom are now deceased ; Edmond, residing near Sidney, Ohio ; Margaret, widow of John Walkup of Delphos ; and R. K. The father died in 1821, the mother in 1842. The subject of this sketch, with his mother and other members of the family, moved to Sidney, Ohio, in 1833. In 1839 he entered the freshman class at the Miami University, and there remained until completing his junior year; he then began the study of medicine with Dr, G. Volney Dorsey, an eminent surgeon of Piqua, Ohio, where he remained one year. But surgery being distasteful to him, he discontinued the study of the profession and devoted his time to school teaching until 1845, when he came to Delphos and took charge of the general store of Hollister, Bliss & Petit, in which capacity he continued two and a half years, when he became a member of the firm of Hollister, Bliss & Lytle, which continued until 1856. The clothing and dry goods firm of Lytle & Robuck was then formed, and existed until 1859, when it was dissolved. The firm of R. K. Lytle & Co., dealers in general merchandise, was next established, and was carried on until 1864, when Mr. Lytle rented his store room and removed to Sidney, Ohio, to live a retired life on account of poor health. Two years being spent in retirement, Mr. Lytle became interested in the firm of Lytle & Scott, of Delphos, which in 1873 was terminated, owing to Mr. Scott's health. Our subject remained in Sidney until 1872, when he returned to Delphos, and engaged with his partner in building the Lytle Block. In 1874, upon the organization of the Commercial Banking Corporation, he became president, in which capacity he still continues. He is a director in the Ohio Wheel Company, also a director in the Union Stave Factory. At the request of the people of the Fifth Congressional District, he became a candidate for Congress upon the Republican ticket, against A. V. Rice, receiving 8,279 votes against 13,477 for his opponent, which was the smallest Democratic majority ever given in the district Mr. Lytle was thrice married, first at St Mary's, Ohio, in 1846, to Martha L., daughter of Samuel Major, and by her had six children, all of whom died young. Mrs. Lytle dying in 1864, Mr. Lytle married, in 1866, Mary Sprague of Wooster, Ohio, daughter of Lindol Sprague. To this union were born two children, both of whom are living: Lindol S. and Margaret K. The mother of these children died in 1874. and our subject's third marriage occurred, May 10, 1876, with Miss Isabelle E. Harn of St. Mary's, Ohio, daughter of Denton and Rachel (Pickett) Harn. Both he and his present wife are descended from the celebrated Knox family; his mother a distant connection of James Knox Polk, eleventh President of the United States. Mr. Lytle is a Royal Arch Mason and a member of the Royal Arcanum. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Delphos, in which he is a trustee and of which he was instrumental in the construction.1 He lived in 1885 at Delphos, Van Wert Co., Ohio.1

Obituary for Robert Doud Martin Sr.

Robert Doud Martin, Sr., age 87, died in Gig Harbor, Washington on Thursday October 18, 2012, surrounded by family and close friends. Born in Tacoma on June 19, 1925, Bob grew up on Commencement Bay, beginning a lifelong attraction all things maritime. He was the son of Ross and Geneva ("Neva") Martin. Bob graduated from Stadium High School and continued his education at the University of Washington. While there, he joined the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity where he made friends that lasted a lifetime. When WWII started, Bob enlisted with the NROTC and was assigned to the LST 451 (a tank landing craft). He saw action in the Pacific theater and his ship was tasked with fighting the Japanese in order to take control of several islands including Saipan, Tinian, Leyte, Lingayen Gulf and Okinawa Gunto. In 1945, he mustered out of the Navy as a Lieutenant J.G. After the war, Bob returned to his studies at the University where he turned out for crew. A natural oarsman, Bob was proud to earn a gold medal in the men's coxed fours event at the 1948 Olympics in London with teammates Warren Westlund, Bob Will, Gordy Giovanelli and Allan Morgan. He graduated with a B.A. in Business and began a long and successful career in the timber industry, employed with Weyerhaeuser, where he worked until his retirement, leaving in 1982 as Vice President of Special Products. In 1952 Bob married Virginia Lutz and together they welcomed four sons into the world, Bob Jr., Donald, Patrick, and Matthew. In the early years of their marriage, the couple bought and remodeled a farm in Cromwell. Soon after, his career took him and his young family to live in Baltimore, Coos Bay and Arcadia. In 1965, they returned to Gig Harbor and built another farm near Sunny Bay. They divorced in 1973, after twenty years of marriage. Never one to go small, and in keeping with his love affair of the sea, Bob purchased the LESLIE FOSS in 1967 - a WW II vintage 127' wooden tugboat. Bob and his family enjoyed the tug over many summers, vacationing in Canada on Octopus Island, where he and his Olympic crewmates shared ownership of the island. Bob remarried Pam Wilkes Koste in 1975. Tragically, a year later, he lost his son Patrick in a terrible accident. But as Bob often said, he gained another son, David, from Pam's previous marriage. Still happily married at the time of his death, Bob and Pam enjoyed 37 years together, with many happy summers spent in Canada, relaxing with friends and family, enjoying the sea's bounty. In 1987, Bob and Pam built their dream home above the Harbor, never tiring of the view. It was from this vantage that Bob spent his final years close to the water that he loved, happy always to greet the many visitors who stopped by. He never lost his keen mind and desire to learn something new every day. He spoke with authority on a wide range of subjects and was an avid reader all of his life. His family misses him terribly for the larger than life man that he was. He was dearly loved. Bob is preceded in death by his son Patrick. He is survived by his wife Pam, and sons: Bob Jr. and Barbara Hendricksen of Anchorage, AK; Don Martin and Meridith Lawrence of Seattle; Matt and Tracy Martin of Gig Harbor; and David and Dawn Koste of Gig Harbor. He was beloved by his granddaughter, Heather Martin McGough of Maple Valley, her husband, Brian and their three children Keilen, Logan and Gabriella and by grandsons Ross Martin, Max Martin and Haakon Koste, all of Gig Harbor. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM November 16th at the Agnus Dei Lutheran Church (10511 Peacock Hill Avenue NW, Gig Harbor). In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the "Patrick Martin Scholarship Fund" c/o Charles Wright Academy, 7723 Chambers Creek Road, Tacoma, WA 98487. Please sign Bob's online guestbook with your favorite memory at www.havenrest.com.3
