Miss Ada Amanda, the nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Perkins, died this morning from diphtheria. The child was taken sick some time ago and was on the way to recovery when she suffered relapse which resulted in her death. The funeral was held late this afternoon. Rev. H.C. Jennings was telegraphed for to be present and officiate. She appeared on the census of 1895 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota; Red Wing 1st Ward, sheet 474.      Ada Amanda Perkins was born on 22 November 1893 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.³ She was the daughter of Marshall Timothy Perkins and Anna Rolfe Purdy. Ada Amanda Perkins married Thomas John Seiz, son of William G. Seiz and Ellen McGuinn, on 31 July 1913 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Ada Amanda Perkins died on 24 June 1953 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota, at age 59.³ She was buried on 26 June 1953 at Calvary Cemetery, Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.⁴

Miss Ada Perkins and Thos. J. Seiz were married at a nuptial mass at St. Joseph's church at 6 o'clock this morning by Rev Father Carey. The bride was attended by Miss Christina Seiz and the groom by Albert Metzler. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of Mr. Seiz' parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Seiz, 1012 Main street. The happy couple left on the 8:35 o'clock train for the Twin Cities and Duluth on their wedding trip. The bride is the daughter of M.T. Perkins of this city. Mr. Seiz is a conductor on the Great Western road. They will make their home in this city.

The body of Mrs. T.J. Seiz, 59, lifelong Red Wing resident who resided at 1026 Main street, was found floating in the Red Wing bay this morning (Wednesday) Lambert Schafer when he reported for work as caretaker of the city dumping grounds.
County Coroner Russell F. Edstrom was conducting an investigation today to determine the cause of death. He said that Mrs. Seiz either fell into the bay or leaped into the water from the dike leading to Bay Point. She was last seen alive Tuesday night at about 8 o'clock when her husband left the Seiz home for work. Her body was found shortly before 8 o'clock this morning about 30 feet from the caretaker's cabin on the city dumping grounds.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Perkins, Mrs. Seiz was born November 22, 1893, in Red Wing and had resided in this city all her life. She was married to T.J. Seiz July 31, 1913.
She is survived, besides her husband, by one son, T. Robert Seiz of Red Wing; two daughters, Mrs. J.E. (Grace) Anderson, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. L.F. (Frances) Graner, Mason City, Iowa; five sisters, Mrs. W.B. Davis, Milwaukee, Wis; Mrs. C.J. Johnson, Mrs. G.E. Carlson and Mrs. Carl Adler, all of Red Wing, and Mrs. Delta Coleen [sic], Faribault; two brothers, Ed Perkins, St. Paul, and Lawrence Perkins, Los Angeles, Calif., and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Ferrin mortuary Friday at 2 p.m. Friends may call at Ferrin's Thursday afternoon and in the evening up until 9 o'clock.

Perkins married Jennie W. Purdy, daughter of David Willets Purdy and Frances Mary Rolfe, on 24 April 1889 at Burnside, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Alfred H. Perkins died on 15 April 1906 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota, at age 38.⁴ He was buried on 18 April 1906 at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.⁵

Alfred H. Perkins was born in Featherstone, this county, October 26, 1867, a scion of old New England stock. His parents, H. and Violetta E. (Ellsworth) Perkins, left New England in the late 1850's and located on a farm in the county of Goodhue, coming to Red Wing in the early 1870's.
Here the father was engaged in several business ventures, continuing his connection with same until his death. The mother now makes her home in Boston, Mass. Alfred received his education in the public schools of Red Wing, farmed five years at Featherstone, engaged in the livery business at Red Wing for a time, and then returned to Featherstone again. In 1895 he removed to Hartland, Pierce county, Wisconsin, and followed farming there until 1900, after which he entered the employ of the government as rural mail clerk. He died April 15, 1906. Thus cut off in the prime of manhood, there is doubtless much that he would have accomplished had he lived man's allotted span of days. His life was characterized by hard work and family devotion, and his death was a distinct bereavement to the community as well as to his loving family. He was a Republican in politics, a communicant of the Episcopal church and a member of the Modern Workmen.
Mr. Perkins was married April 24, 1889, at Burnside, Minn., to Jennie W. Purdy, daughter of David and Mary F. (Rolfe) Purdy, natives of New York. They came to Minnesota in 1864 and located on a farm in Goodhue township, where they remained for some time, after which they retired and moved to Red Wing, where the father died. The mother died May 19, 1905. To Mr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Perkins were born three children: Harry H., born August 1, 1892, Burton T., born October 14, 1896, and Genevieve, born September 19, 1897. The family residence is at 1604 West Sixth Street.

The marriage of Miss Jennie Willets Purdy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Purdy, of Burnside, to Alfred H. Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Perkins, will take place on Wednesday, April 24, at 3 p.m. at the home of the bride's parents in Burnside. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C.H. Plummer, rector of Christ church. In the evening a reception was held, which was attended by about sixty. Mr. and Mrs. Perkins will make their home in Featherstone.

Funeral services over the remains of the late Alfred H. Perkins were held this morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence on West Sixth street. The pall bearers, members of the Workmen lodge, to which the deceased belonged, were G. Schlenter, R. Kolbe, Oliver Comstock, J.O. Hancock, Felix Lindberg, and S.S. Lundquist. Rev. C.C. Rollit, assisted by Rev. C.H. Plummer, of Lake City, read the funeral service. Those from out of town were Dr. and Mrs. Frank Perkins of Ellsworth.

Alfred H. Perkins died at noon Sunday at his home on West Sixth street. Mr. Perkins has been failing in health for a long time and death was not unexpected. He was born in Featherstone on Oct. 26, 1867. Besides his wife and three children, Harry, Burton and Genevieve, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. V.E. Perkins, who is now visiting in Houston, Texas, and four brothers, Marshall T. Perkins of Red Wing, Dr. Frank Perkins of Ellsworth, and Dr. Burton Perkins of Houston, Texas, and one sister, Mrs. C.L. Jones of Boston. Funeral services will be held at the residence Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. C.C. Rollit officiating.

     Alice Faye Perkins was born on 6 April 1953 at Brownsville, Berks Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of Preston Perkins and Anna Catherine Harn. Alice Faye Perkins died on 15 January 1974 at Johnstown, Cambria Co., Pennsylvania, at age 20.¹ She was buried at Acklin Cemetery, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.

Alice Faye Perkins, 21, former resident of E. Millsboro, and Isabella died Jan. 15, 1974 in Conemaugh Valley Hospital, Jonestown, Pa. She had been a patient at the Ebensburg State Hospital & School since 1962. She was born in Brownsville, April 6, 1952, a daughter of the late Preston and Catherine Harn Perkins. Surviving are five sisters and nine brothers. She was buried in Acklin Cemetery.

     Andrew Perkins is the son of Jonathan Perkins MD and Sarah Westberg.¹

     Bertha B. Perkins was born circa 1884 at Featherstone Twsp., Goodhue Co., Minnesota.¹ She was the daughter of Timothy Ellsworth Perkins and Rhoda A. Boston. Bertha B. Perkins died on 17 August 1893 at Featherstone, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.² She was buried at Hope Cemetery, Featherstone Twsp., Goodhue Co., Minnesota.
     The cause of death was Diphtheria. History of Dakota & Goodhue Co., MN, page 1048. Death Record says Bertha was 8 years, 10 months, 29 days. Tombstone for Bertha B., lists 1884-1893.

     Beston Scott Perkins was born circa 1902 at Texas.¹ She was the daughter of Dr. Burton L. Perkins and Jennie S. (?).

     Dr. Burton L. Perkins was born circa 1870 at Minnesota.¹ He was the son of Hartson Ellsworth Perkins and Violet P. Ellsworth. Dr. Burton L. Perkins married Jennie S. (?) circa 1893.² Dr. Burton L. Perkins died on 26 February 1941 at Houston, Harris Co., Texas.³

Word has been received by friends here of the death of Dr. B.T. Perkins of Houston, Tex., a former resident of Red Wing and a brother of the late M.T. Perkins of Red Wing. According to belated information, he died suddenly on February 26 of a heart attack while on an automobile ride. Dr. Perkins spent his boyhood in this community. For many years his family resided in a home on Fourth street, which was later remodeled into St. John's hospital and which still constitutes the main part of the institution. For many years he successfully practiced his profession of dentistry in the Texas city. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Mrs. Perkins died a number of years ago.

     Burton Thomas Perkins was born on 14 October 1896 at Minnesota.¹ He was the son of Alfred H. Perkins and Jennie W. Purdy. Burton Thomas Perkins married Leah Marie Howe, daughter of Helmer Howe and Mary Betcher, on 29 April 1921 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Burton Thomas Perkins died on 23 May 1965 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota, at age 68.²
