In the book, THE RUPLE FAMILY IN AMERICA AND ITS GERMANIC HERITAGE, by Jack Damon Ruple, Sr., page 133-134. Jack D. Ruple Sr. states that "The records of the Historical and Genealogical Society of Somerset County contain a signed copy of a Jacob Ruple's will..."
Following is the complete text of that will:
"In the Name of God Amen. I Jacob Ruple of Turkeyfoot Township in the state of Pennsylvania farmer being in perfect state of health of body, and of perfect mind and memory thanks to be given to God calling into Mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent christian manner, at the discretion of my Exeutrix, Margaret Ruple, nothing doubting but in the general Resurrection I shal receive the same again by the Almighty power of God - and as Touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give devise and dispose of the same in the manner and form following - First I give and bequeath to Margaret Ruple, My Dearly Beloved Wife all My Landed property that I am at this time possessed of - with all stock and movable affects During the Term of her Natural Life, and as I considered my son Jacob to have had a sufficiency by the Land I gave him on the Negro Mountain for his share, I therefore give and Bequeath My afforesaid Tract of Land I now live on after the decease of his mother Margaret Ruple to my son John Ruple and his heirs, and should the said John die without Heirs, and should the said Estate shall be divided among my five children, Martin, Peggy, Nancy, Betsy, and Barbary, and the said Heir is to pay my daughter Barbary the sum of Fifty pounds in Spanish Milled Dollars at seven shillings and six pen each, in 12 months after the decease of her mother Margaret Ruple. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy the remaining half tract of land that I sold to George Barnet, I also give and Bequeath to my son, John, the Horse I got of Mr. Ellis immedialy after my decrease, and I also give and bequeath to my son Martin the yearling Mare - I also give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy and Barbary each of them a horse, cow, and sheep. Exclusive of an equal divison of the remaining movables, I give and bequeath my sugar camp place for the life of the heirs of my Landed property I now live on, I also give and bequeath to the Heirs of my landed estate the wagon and wind Mill. And do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disanul all and every other testaments Wills, Legacies and Bequeaths in any ways made by me Excepting what I gave to my son Jacob Ruple, and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament, In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Sixteenth Day of July, 1795. /s/ "

Jack Damon Ruple Sr. continues on page 134 of his book, that "The August, 1974, issue of the "Laurel Messenger" of Somerset County reported the following:

Will dated July 3, 1795. Probated June 19, 1797. Wife - Margaret. Children: Jacob, John, Martin, Peggy, Nancy, Betsy, Barbara.

     Mary Ruple (Rupel) was born on 26 September 1827 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob Rupel and Catherine Griffith. Mary Ruple (Rupel) married Andrew Longley on 12 October 1845 at Elkhart Co., Indiana. Mary Ruple (Rupel) died on 15 August 1914 at Clay Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 86.¹ She was buried at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, Greene Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana.
     Mary Ruple (Rupel) was a Keeping House. Her married name was Longley. She appeared on the census of 1850 at Concord Twsp., Elkhart Co., Indiana; page 28. She appeared on the census of 1870 at Greene Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana; page 276. She appeared on the census of June 1880 at Greene Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana. She appeared on the census of 1900 at Clay Twsp., Saint Joseph Co., Indiana; E.D. 101, Sheet 1.

     Rachel Ruple (Rupel) was born on 1 May 1836 at South Bend, Saint Joseph Co., Indiana. She was the daughter of Jacob Rupel and Catherine Griffith. Rachel Ruple (Rupel) married Calvin Davis Harn, son of Elisha Lemuel Harn and Keziah Griswell, on 25 October 1856 at Niles, Berrien Co., Michigan.¹ Rachel Ruple (Rupel) and Calvin Davis Harn were divorced on 25 May 1887 at Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon.² Rachel Harn died on 9 January 1906 at Shieldsville, Rice Co., Minnesota, at age 69.^3,4 She was buried circa 1906 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.
     Her married name was Harn. She appeared on the census of July 1850 at Bango Twsp., Elkhart Co., Indiana; Rachel Rupel listed as 14 years old, born in Indiana. Rachel Ruple (Rupel) was a Keeping-house. She appeared on the census of 28 July 1870 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota; page 519. She appeared on the census of 1 May 1875 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota; pg. 225. She appeared on the census of 4 June 1880 at Shieldsville, Rice Co., Minnesota. She appeared on the census of 1885 at Shieldsville, Rice Co., Minnesota. The 1900 Census has Rachel born Mar 1836, and married 44-years. She appeared on the census of June 1900 at Shieldsville Twsp., Rice Co., Minnesota; E.D. 161, sheet 7. Death Record lists name as "Rachel Ruple Harn", divorced. The cause of death was Neuralgia of Heart. In Harn Family Bible, Rachel's lastname listed as Rupel. Grave lists Rachel Rupel Harn 1836-1906. Death Record has parents as Jacob Ruple and C. Griffith of PA.

     Aaron Ruple was born on 17 December 1825 at Somerset Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). Aaron Ruple married Amanda E. Hart. Aaron Ruple died on 9 December 1901 at age 75.¹ He was buried at Oak Park Cemetery, Noble Co., Indiana.¹

     Ada M. Ruple was born circa 1877 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of William Ruple and Matilda Angle.

     Alfred Ruple was born on 16 December 1839 at Indiana.² He was the son of James Ruple and Sarah Wagner Wood. Alfred Ruple married Mary Ellen Dils on 29 June 1862 at Saint Joseph Co., Indiana; In 1900, resided in St. Joseph Co., Michigan.

     Almira Ruple was born circa 1843 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Ruple and Sarah Wilkins. Almira Ruple died on 23 February 1856.¹

     Almira Ruple was born circa 1865 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Ruple and Minerva Ashton. Almira Ruple married John N. Filar Jr. on 21 June 1887.¹
     Her married name was Filar.

     Ammi Ruple was born on 16 April 1831 at Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Andrew Ruple and Sarah Wilkins. Ammi Ruple married Margaret Slabaugh on 2 August 1855 at Elkhart Co., Indiana. Ammi Ruple died circa March 1905 at Indiana.¹ He was buried at Union Cemetery, Marshall Co., Indiana.¹
