Company, (D,) 100 Regiment of Indiana Infantry Volunteers, who was enrolled on the 22 day of August one thousand eight hundred and Sixty Two to serve Three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this Eight day of June, 1865, at Washington D.C. by reason of Expiration of Term of Service. (No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist*.) Said Jonas Ruple was born in Elkhart Co. in the State of Indiana, is 29 years of age, 5 feet 7 ½ inches high, Dark complexion, Grey eyes, Brown hair, and by occupation when enrolled, a Farmer. He was born on 11 November 1832 at Michigan.3 He was the son of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). Jonas Ruple married Lydia (?) circa 1856.4 Jonas Ruple married Samantha E. Boyd circa 1896. Jonas Ruple died on 1 April 1905 at Penn Twsp., Cass Co., Michigan, at age 72.3 The cause of death was Apoplexy, secondary cause was old age.3 He was buried on 4 April 1905 at Friends Cemetery, Michigan.3
