Bridgett Cecilia McCarthy married John Michael Tracey, son of John Tracey and Eleanor Paxmax, on 8 September 1877 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota; Marriage Record shows name as Bridgette Tracy.³ Bridgett Cecilia McCarthy died on 7 January 1948 at Polson, Lake Co., Montana, at age 88.⁴ The cause of death was Bronchial Pneumonia.¹

Mrs. Celia Tracey Dies at 88; Rites Saturday

Ronan, Jan. 8. Mrs. Celia Bridget Tracey, 88, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. N. K. Boice, Polson, following an illness since Christmas. Funeral services will be held at the Polson Catholic church at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. Father J. Kennedy will officiate and burial will be in Lake View cemetery. The body is at the Shrider mortuary here. Mrs. Tracey was born May 26, 1859, at Faribault. Minn. She made her home at Weldon before coming to Lake county in 1926. She was married to John Tracey at Faribault and he died years ago. She is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Boice of Polson and four sons, Frank J. Tracey, Polson; Bernice S. Tracey, Columbia Fails; Harry J. Tracey, Harlem, and F. Dewey Tracey, Oakanognan, Wash. Also by 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.² She was buried on 10 January 1948 at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson, Lake Co., Montana, PLOT     1a-61-22.^1,5 Bridgett was living in Waldon, MT in Dec 1920, according to Florence's obituary. According to Bridgett's Death Certificate, lived in Polson-MT for past 22 years, and was and born 26May1859.

     Brigid Mary McCarthy is the daughter of Steven Errol McCarthy and Rosalie Anne Heine.¹ Brigid Mary McCarthy married Steve Klaysmat.

     Catherine McCarthy was born circa 1873 at Wisconsin.^1,2 She married William Daniel McGinnis Jr., son of William McGinnis and Mary N. Smith, on 16 May 1904 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota. Catherine McCarthy lived in October 1942 at 106 N. 12th St., Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota. She died on 11 November 1942 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota.^1,2 She was buried on 13 November 1942 at St. Mary's Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota.^1,2

     Charles McCarthy was born circa 1854 at New York.¹ He was the son of John McCarthy and Saraphine Sheehy. Living in Mexico City, NM in Dec 1920, according to Florence's obit. Probate Record for John McCarthy 28 Jul 1900, said Charles in AZ. Living in Mexico in May 1914, according to mother's obituary.

     Charles McCarthy was born on 16 February 1900 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.¹ He was the son of Joseph McCarthy and Anna Madden. Charles McCarthy died on 9 August 1900 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.² Birth Record has a male child born to Joseph & Annie on 16Feb1900. The cause of death was broncho pneumonia. Birth Record at time stated Joseph was 35 and Annie was 28 years. Death record says Charles died at age of 0yrs, 6mo, 7days.

     Charles McCarthy was born circa 1825.¹ He was the son of Jeremiah McCarthy and Nellie Sullivan.

     Charles McCarthy was born in 1748 at Castlelough, Killarney, Kerry Co., Ireland. He married Margaret Walsh. Charles McCarthy died on 7 April 1821 at Cork, Cork Co., Ireland.

     Claire Marie McCarthy was born on 15 March 1912 at Erin Twsp., Rice Co., Minnesota.⁴ She was the daughter of Florence James McCarthy and Florida Louise LaPierre. Claire Marie McCarthy married Cleveland Kassinger, son of Alvis Kassinger and Sarah Hedge, on 30 April 1937 at Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.⁵ Claire Marie McCarthy lived in July 1995 at 117 E. Paquin St., Apt 208, Waterville, Rice Co., Minnesota. She lived at 715 N. Central Ave., Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota; Claire had continued living at this address after Cleve had died, and then around 1997, she moved to Waterville, MN. Birth Record lists name as Clara Marie, born 05Sep1909 and mother as Florida Stone.
Letter from Claire Kassinger dated 9/1994 states: "My mother was French and some of her siblings used the English name 'Stone' instead of the French translation 'La Pierre'. My mother always used the name as 'La Pierre'. I had no middle name, but took the name "Patricia" when I was confirmed. My father disliked the name of 'Florence' and often wrote his name as F. James McCarthy."

Faribault - Claire Kassinger, 91 died suddenly at St. Lucas Care Center on July 19, 2003, while recovering from a fall. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Claire was born in the Shieldsville area on March 15, 1912, the daughter of Florence James McCarthy and Florida LaPierre. The family moved to Faribault upon the death of her father in 1922.

Claire married Cleveland Kassinger, her lifelong companion; and they lived their professional lives in Chicago. Claire was employed as the paymaster of a railroad headquartered in Chicago. Upon retirement Claire and Cleveland returned to Faribault living at Cedar Lake and Boulder City, Nev.

Following the death of her husband in 1995, Claire lived in Faribault, Waterville, and Northfield, most recently at Keystone and Alterra.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleve Kassinger; brothers, Albert and Henry McCarthy; and sisters, Esther Barry of Hesperia, Mich., and Emily Green of Las Vegas, Nev. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, including area residents, Joan LaPierre, and Steve and Rosalie McCarthy. She was much loved by her family who enjoyed her funny stories, and generous love and care. She died on 19 July 2003 at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota, at age 91.⁶ She was buried at Saint Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.⁷

     Craig Alan McCarthy is the son of Kenneth Iver McCarthy and Rita Ann Friesen. Craig Alan McCarthy married Leah Bebout on 17 May 1997 at Muncie, Delaware Co., Indiana.

     Daniel McCarthy was born in January 1869 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.² He was the son of John McCarthy and Saraphine Sheehy. Daniel McCarthy was a Cigar maker and painter. He was buried on 8 January 1940 at Row 5, Grave 14., Hastings Hospital Cemetery, Hastings, Dakota Co., Minnesota.³ He died on 8 January 1940 at Hastings, Dakota Co., Minnesota.⁴ Alice Morgan has birth as 1870 and death in 1929. Daniel McCarthy was a no religious persuasion.

There were multiple hearings in Rice County, Minnesota regarding Daniel being committed for insanity. The first time Daniel was committed was on 27 Oct 1906, by his brother Joseph. The later records indicate he had been in the Rochester State Hospital. His reason for insanity appears to be the habitual use of narcotics, intoxicating liquor, and self-abuse. Both Probate records indicate that two of his cousins on his father's side were insane. Daniel died of carcinoma of the head of the pancreas, obstructive jaundice, and metastases to liver.

     Deborah Frances McCarthy is the daughter of Dennis James McCarthy and Mary Rose Connena. Deborah Frances McCarthy married William Wesley August on 12 June 1976 at United Methodist Church, La Habra, Orange Co., California.¹ Deborah Frances McCarthy and William Wesley August were divorced in 1986. Deborah Frances McCarthy married Jeff Reed. Deborah Frances McCarthy and Jeff Reed were divorced.

     Dennis James McCarthy was born on 12 April 1936 at Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois.^3,4,5 He was the son of Albert Dennis McCarthy and Dollie Helen Schmaedick. Dennis James McCarthy married Mary Rose Connena, daughter of Emil Francis Connena and Frances Rose Mistretta, on 16 June 1956 at Sacred Heart Church, Covina, Los Angeles Co., California.^6,5 Dennis James McCarthy lived in September 1990 at Stockton, San Joaquin Co., California.⁷ He lived in 1994 at Acampo, San Joaquin Co., California. He died on 7 February 2022 at Lodi, San Joaquin Co., California, at age 85.^4,5 The cause of death was Cancer.⁴


Dennis McCarthy aka Denny, Mac & Papa (1936-2022)

At 85+ years of age God reached down and called Dennis up on Feb. 7, 2022 to ease his pain after a valiant fight with cancer, in which he never complained about the pain. Dennis passed quietly at home in Lodi surrounded by his loved ones. He was a friend to everyone and he will be missed by all that knew him.
Born April 12, 1936 to Albert Dennis McCarthy and Dollie Helen McCarthy in Chicago, Illinois, the family moved to So. California when Dennis was 10 years old. They settled in San Gabriel Valley. He was the oldest with four younger sisters, Alice (Russ) Morgan, Bonnie (Joe) Austin, Suzanne (Bud) Thomas and Patricia Smith. He leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces who loved him so.
He lived life to the fullest always trying new things to do and always ready to help anyone in need. As a boy, he raised homing pigeons, a hobby that gave him much pride and joy. He had been a Boy Scout where he learned to hike and camp which he carried thru his life covering every trail in the Sierras and climbing to the top of Mt. Whitney with his friends. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, riding his bike and being with his friends. Dennis was interested in chemistry and rockets. He ran track at Mark Kepple High School. Then he got interested in archery. He made his own bow and arrows with minimum tools from money he earned from his newspaper route and doing chores for the neighbors. He joined a club called "Alhambra Archers" and excelled in the sport. This is where he met a member of the club named Mary Conenna who was to be the love of his life. They were married on June 16, 1956 and enjoyed 65+ years. Together they had two children, Deborah (Jeff) McCarthy-Reed and James Dennis (Paulette) McCarthy. They gave Dennis and Mary 6 grandchildren, three each, Daniel James August, Megan Elizabeth (Warren) August-Murphy, Robert August, Michael James McCarthy, Zachary John McCarthy and Tyler Dennis McCarthy; two great grandsons, Patrick August and Aydan August. Even though he kept busy with all his hobbies, Papa loved his children, grandchildren and great grandsons and he always found time to spend with them and his wife.
At age 18, Denny spent a summer working at a Lumber Camp in the Redwoods of No. California. After that he worked in construction. Then it was off to college. First, Pasadena City College and then on UCLA and USC. Meanwhile, he worked nights at Douglas Aircraft that got him into the New Rockets Division. He found his niche as an Aerospace Engineer and loved it; spending 35 years in the Aerospace Industry.
He learned to fly and bought his own airplane, which he flew with Mary as his co-pilot on many trips. Then he learned to sail and he and his son Jim spent many a weekend sailing out of Newport Harbor. He learned photography and opened a photography studio and covered many weddings and portraits.
Dennis was a master woodworker and after he retired from the Aerospace Industry, he and Mary opened a business that sold hardwoods, moldings and architectural trims here in Lodi. He created many custom fireplace mantles for many homes in Lodi and the surrounding area. At the same time Dennis was a Walnut farmer in Acampo. He and Mary designed and built their dream home, a large workshop and Grandmother's cottage on the ranch.
His last hobby was target shooting with Black Powder rifles some he built himself. He was a member of the Folsom Shooting Club, Sacramento Valley Shooting Center and True Sportsman Club in Jackson.

Donna A. Harn 1931-2009

FARIBAULT - Donna A. Harn, age 77 of Faribault, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Shieldsville. Interment will be at the St. Patrick Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Born on Oct. 31, 1931 in Faribault, Donna was the daughter of William and Katherine (Sklenar) McCarthy. She attended Bethlehem Academy in Faribault and graduated in 1949. Donna married William (Bill) O. Harn on Nov. 8, 1950 in Mason City, Iowa. Donna and Bill lived many years in Richfield before moving to French Lake. After raising her children, Donna worked over 20 years at the Minnesota School for the Blind as a House Parent. While Donna's first love was Bill, her second love was traveling. With Bill, family and good friends, she took in sights across the world, in recent years visiting Ireland, Italy, France, England, Nova Scotia and Mexico. She enjoyed spending time with family and hosted many gatherings at her home at French Lake, entertaining loved ones with photos from her most recent travels and her delicious baking. Donna was a devout Catholic and member of the parish at St. Patrick Church in Shieldsville.

(Stephen) Gray of Burnsville, Judy (Dennis) Anderson of Minnetrista, William Jr. (Namsun) Harn of Rogers, Kathleen (Joseph) Sherman of Lakeville, and Kristine Harn of Faribault; her sister, Geraldine Lien of Faribault; brother, Edward (Joan) McCarthy of St. Paul; 11 grandchildren, Kirsten, Naomi, Ryan, Reece, Michelle, Trenton, Sam, Ben, Tori, Alonzo and Peter; and many nieces and nephews, including very special nephew, Steve (Terri) Redman of Clearfield, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Lou Redman; brother, George McCarthy; and much-loved in-laws.

He lived in 2018 at 3-3rd Ave., Landfall Terrace, St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota. He died on 16 August 2020 at St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota, at age 93.

     Elaine Mary Rene McCarthy was born on 3 January 1939 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.² She was the daughter of Henry Gilbert McCarthy and Irene Genevieve Ronhovde. Elaine was living in Faribault 1941, according to father's obituary. Elaine Mary Rene McCarthy was also known as Dee.³ She married Richard Foley Quinn, son of Thomas Henry Quinn II and Elinor Foley, on 18 April 1959 at Minnesota. Elaine Mary Rene McCarthy died on 10 February 2018 at Orange City, Volusia Co., Florida, at age 79.⁴ She was buried at Saint Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.³

Daughter of Irene and Henry McCarthy, passed away on February 10. She was 79. She leaves behind her brother Steve and her children Shannon, Foley, Devin and Colin. She was preceded in death by husband Richard "Dick" Quinn, their daughter Kelly, her parents and her brother Ken. Family and friends will honor Elaine on July 5, 11 a.m. at Parker Kohl Funeral Home, Faribault, MN. An excellent cook, dancer, badminton player and a champion shopper, Elaine lived on a rambling farm in Somerset, Wisconsin. An avid traveler, she took her kids to Ireland, dined with the Guards of the Tower of London, touched the statue of David in Florence. Elegant, professional and fair, Elaine managed some of the top Twin Cities venues: The Monte Carlo Club, Windows at the IDS, Freight House, Holiday Inn. Elaine loved dark chocolate, a good glass of wine, infectious laughter, and the company of her family.

Ellen McCarthy was baptized on 30 April 1903 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.² The cause of death was Tuberculosis. She died on 1 May 1912 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota, at age 9.³ She was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.³

     Emily Cleo McCarthy was also known as Sarephine. She was born on 5 June 1900 at Wheatland, Rice Co., Minnesota.⁴ Emily Cleo McCarthy was a Housewife. She was the daughter of Florence James McCarthy and Florida Louise LaPierre. Emily Cleo McCarthy married Erven John Greene, son of Martin Greene and Olivia Peterson, on 29 June 1922 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.⁵ Emily Cleo McCarthy died on 16 February 1960 at Sparks, Washoe Co., Nevada, at age 59.⁶ The cause of death was Brain Atrophy, Alzheimer's Disease for 2 years. She was buried on 17 February 1960 at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, Las Vegas, Clark Co., Nevada.^6,7 Death Certificate lists Emily's birth as 05 Jul 1900. CENSUS: 1920 MN, Rice Co., Erin Twsp., listed as 18 years old.

Emily died at the Nevada State Hospital, after a stay of 4 1/2 months. She had Chronic brain syndrome associated with disturbance of metabolism, growth or nutrition. This contributed to death but was not related to the immediate cause of death: Brain atrophy and Alzheimer's Disease. Emily's usual residence was at 1324 Pacific Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada. She had moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1946.

     Esther Charlotte McCarthy was born on 13 March 1902 at Erin, Rice Co., Minnesota.⁴ She was the daughter of Florence James McCarthy and Florida Louise LaPierre. Esther Charlotte McCarthy graduated circa 1920 at Bethlehem Academy, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota. She married Basil Francis Barry, son of James Charles Goodman and Elizabeth Carrie Reeves, on 15 May 1920 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota.^5,6 Esther Charlotte McCarthy lived in 1928 at Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois. She died on 5 December 1996 at Hesperia, Oceana Co., Michigan, at age 94.⁷ Esther was living in Chicago-1928, according to sister's obituary. She lived at Hesperia, Oceana Co., Michigan. Letter from Claire Kassinger dated 9/1994 stated about Esther: "She had a stroke about six years ago and is confined to her bed and wheelchair. She lives with her son in Michigan. " She was buried at Christ the King Cemetery, Hesperia, Oceana Co., Michigan.⁸

     Female McCarthy is the daughter of Kenneth Iver McCarthy and Rita Ann Friesen.¹ Female McCarthy married male Ashba.¹

     Florence James McCarthy was born on 30 June 1873 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.⁴ Florence James McCarthy was a Teacher. He was the son of John McCarthy and Saraphine Sheehy. Florence James McCarthy married Florida Louise LaPierre, daughter of Gilbert LaPierre and Eulalie Besson, on 11 July 1899 at Shieldsville, Rice Co., Minnesota; Marriage Record listed Lorence James McCarthy and Florida Stone.⁵


Letter from Claire Kassinger 9/1994, stated that her father, Florence James was sick for a number of years before his death. He had a very crippling form of arthritis. She remembered him only walking on crutches or being confined to bed. He taught school in rural areas around Rice County for 20-years. The last year he taught in New Prague and was on crutches.

Florence James McCarthy died on 16 December 1920 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota, at age 47.⁶ He was buried on 18 December 1920 at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Shieldsville, Rice Co., Minnesota.^6,7 Alice Morgan has birth as 12Jun1874 and death of 06Dec1920. Death Certificate has name listed as James F. McCarthy.

McCARTHY - James Florence McCarthy died at his home Thursday morning at 8 o'clock, Dec. 16, after being confined to his bed five years with sciatic rheumatism and other complications. He was born in Faribault June 22, 1874, and received his education in the parochial and public schools, and is a graduate of Faribault high school and Mankato normal school. For 21 years he was successful as a teacher in many of the rural schools of Rice county and was well liked by all who knew him.
In 1899 he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony at St. Patrick's church in Shieldsville to Florida LaPierre of Faribault who, with six children, survives. The children are: Miss Emily, of Faribault; Mrs. Esther Barry, of Chicago; Albert, Henry, Cressa and Leah, at home. He also leaves five brothers and one sister; Charles of Mexico City, N.M; John, of Minneapolis; Daniel, of Hastings; Jerry and Joseph, of this city, and Mrs. J.M. Tracey of Waldon, Mont. He was a patient sufferer for many years, always bearing his suffering with a smile. His funeral was held Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Patrick's church, Rec. Father Malloy officiating. His body was laid to rest at St. Patrick's cemetery.⁶

     Flynn McCarthy is the son of Steven Errol McCarthy and Rosalie Anne Heine.

He married Olga Louise Borchert, daughter of Paul Fred Borchert and Louise Velzke, on 12 February 1929 at Rice Co., Minnesota. Francis Edward McCarthy died on 22 August 1975 at St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota, at age 70. He was buried on 25 August 1975 at Union Cemetery, Maplewood, Ramsey Co., Minnesota.¹ Memorial Card.
