     Steven Errol McCarthy was born on 5 February 1936 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota, File Number: 1936-MN-026102.2,3 He was the son of Henry Gilbert McCarthy and Irene Genevieve Ronhovde. Steven lived in Faribault 1941, according to father's obituary. Steven Errol McCarthy graduated in 1954 at Bethlem Academy, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.3 He married Rosalie Anne Heine on 27 June 1959 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.3 Steven Errol McCarthy graduated circa 1962 at University of Minnesota, Minnesota, Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He graduated at Eastern Michigan University, Michigan, Master’s Degree in Education. As of 2003, Steven Errol McCarthy lived at 4130 Beard Ave., Robbinsdale, MN. He died on 16 September 2023 at Elysian Senior Home, Chanhassen, Minnesota, at age 87.3

Steven Errol McCarthy, age 87 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Elysian Senior Home of Chanhassen, MN.

Steven Errol, the son of Henry and Irene (Ronhovde) McCarthy was born on February 5, 1936 in Faribault, MN. He attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1954. In 1955 Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years with the ASA. After his service time Steve graduated from the University of Minnesota with his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On June 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to Rosalie Heine at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. After their marriage Steve taught in Michigan and during that time earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. Later they would move back to Minnesota and Steve taught German and became a Guidance Counselor in the Robbinsdale School District until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed traveling and living at Cedar Lake and Vero Beach, FL.

Steve is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rose McCarthy of Faribault, MN; by his children, Teri McCarthy of New London, MN, Flynn (Eva) McCarthy of Miami, FL, Brendan (Tara) McCarthy of Brooklyn Center, MN and Brigid (Steve) Klaysmat of Chanhassen, MN; by eleven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved grandson, Jason McCarthy, his brother, Kenneth McCarthy and his sister, Elaine Quinn.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m..The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Steve. McCarty and Jane Harn McCarty, she is survived by husband, Ron, of the home; sons, Jay and J.R. of the home; stepdaughters, Kathy, Karen and Kim; sister, Elizabeth Bradford; niece, Jennifer; brother-in-law, Ralph Lakin; and aunts, June Tracey, Eva Jo Reed; and granddaughters, Heather and Jennifer. Lu graduated from Northeast High School and later from Central State University with summa cum laude honors. She realized her ambition to become a teacher and pursued that as a teacher at Highland Park Elementary. Lu's courage and fighting spirit during the last 2 years has been an inspiration to her family and friends. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 1991, at the Bill Eisenhour NE Chapel. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society or charity of choice.

Rosemary “Rose” Lynn McClelland, oldest child of Herbert and Josephine (Heller) McClelland, was born on a farm south of Dellvale, KS on January 4, 1929, and passed away at the Nottingham Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olathe, KS on May 4, 2021 at the age of 92.Rose attended grades one through eight at two different rural schools southwest of Clayton, KS. She attended the Clayton High School for her freshman and sophomore years, and then moved to Norton with her family and graduated from Norton Community High School in 1947. Following graduation, she worked at Ideal Truck Lines until she married John William “Bill” Mathes, Jr. on July 10, 1948. Rose helped in their family businesses for many years including the Norton Ice and Locker Plant and Grocery, and the Root Beer Drive Inn. Later, she worked at the Haxton Grocery, and Browne’s Clothing in Norton.
Rose, a long-time member of the Norton Christian Church, was baptized into Christ with her husband on May 20, 1951, at the old Norton Christian Church. She taught the Sunday School primary grades for many years, was a member of the Women’s Council, and was Chairperson of the Funeral Dinner Committee for several years. Rose was faithful in attending church until the fall of 2020 when her health began declining. Her greatest love was Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and her husband and family.
She had also been a member of the FCE and the Pollyanna Club.Rose is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Ochsner, South Fork, CO, Susan Smith, Gardner, KS, and a son, John Steven (Janet) Mathes, Norton, KS; three grandchildren, Nathan Mathes, Phillipsburg, KS, Amanda (JP) Bockes, Lee’s Summit, MO, and Megan (Mike) Kane, Gardner, KS; three great grandchildren, Kolby and Kaleb Bockes, Breanna Rose Volo, and a step great granddaughter, Paige Bockes; two brothers, Jay (Pat) McClelland, Springfield, MO, and Gary (Pam) McClelland, Norman OK, and several nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill (2014), and a son-in-law, Floyd Smith (2014).Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home, Norton.
