Following from Ruby Redman in 1973:
"My mother's people were Samuel W. Lilly. Married to Mary Jane Haigg. Had 8 children: Minnie, Arod, Amy, Walen (Bud), Viola, Zella and Jessie.
"As of March 1973, there are deaths of dad, mom, Sam, Garnet, Floyd and George."4 She lived in December 2000 at 1404 Falls Ave., E., Twin Falls, Twin Falls Co., Idaho.
Following from an obituary for Ruby Redman in the Idaho Press-Tribune newspaper, dated 30 May 2001:
Rudy Redman, 98 of Caldwell, passed away May 27, 2001, at the beautiful Birchwood Retirement Home in Twin Falls, where she resided for the past year. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Ruby was born Jan. 27, 1903, in Purdom (sic), Neb., a daughter of George and Minnie Fellows. She married James R. Samuel Wesley Fellows died on 24 August 1922 at Hardin, Big Horn Co., Montana, at age 22.4,2 Samuel Wesley Fellows World War Draft Registration card lists his birthdate as 25 Oct 1898.5 The cause of death was killed by train in 1922.4,6,7 The cause of death was railroad crossing accident.8
MOTHER WRITES POEM ON DEATH OF HER SON
The funeral of Samuel Wesley Fellows, the young man who lost his life at the railroad crossing east of the Big Horn Bridge, Thursday of last week was held Saturday afternoon from the family home in the Little Horn valley, Rev. Irvin of the Baptist church officiating, and the remains were interred in the Hardin cemetery. Samuel Wesley Fellows was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Fellows and was born in Cherry county, Nebraska, October 25, 1898. With his parents he came to Big Horn valley in 1914 and for the past five years the family have resided on their farm in the Little Horn valley, six miles southeast of Hardin. Besides his parents he is survived by four sisters and five brothers. The following obituary poem was written by his mother:
Our loved one was hit by a flying special
That was traveling at a terrific speed.
All in the flash of a second
It committed this awful deed.
Around the curve it came without warning.
Snuffed out his life as a gust would a candle.
That bright and beautiful morning.
He jumped, poor boy, but only too late;
The flying truck hit him, only to seal his fate.
Eye witnesses rushed to him, but he only gasped for breath;
No mortal hands could save him; soon his eyes were closed in death.
Dearest Samuel, thou hast left us. And our loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God, our Great Redeemer- He can all our sorrows heal.
Closed are the eye lids forever- Those eyes that sparkled with light-
And the heart that before beat so joyous
Is silent and pulseless tonight.
The voice of our loved one will be silent.
Till it wakes on the echoless shore.
And the sound of his gentle voice
WIII gladden our hearts never more.
We bow to the dictates of heaven While saying: "Thy will be done;" But yet, our hearts are aching
For the loss of our loved one.
MOTHER.
CARD OF THANKS
We wish to tender our heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who assisted us during our bereavement In the loss of our son and brother, Samuel Wesley Fellows. Their many acts of kindness will never be forgotten.
