Interment will follow in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the United Veterans Council of Natrona County. Vigil will be recited at 7 p.m. today, Sept. 16, at Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory.
He died peacefully Sept. 13, 2003. at his home, surrounded by loved ones, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 6, 1932, in Fort Garland, Colo., he was the son of Horacio and Rufina Santistevan.
On Oct. 28, 1955, he married Donna Rae Grubtill in Denver.
He was a decorated combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.
Following his discharge, he returned to Casper and worked as a carpenter.
He accomplished the "all-American dream." In 1967, he founded and operated Santistevan Construction,
building custom homes, until 1984. He then became cofounder of Majestic Marble of Wyoming, manufacturing
custom marble bathrooms.
His hobbies included playing pool, camping, traveling, hunting, fishing, and gambling. He was an active
member of the Marine Corps League and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Known as a hard worker, he loved to joke and laugh and enjoyed meeting new people.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years; five children, Billie Jo King and her husband of Arizona, Alfred Jr. and his wife, Kathy Jackson and her husband and Chris and his wife, all of Casper, and Carla Jensen of California; seven grandchildren: three great- grandchildren: two brothers, Julian of Casper and Eloy of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews; and a loving mother-in-law.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Lee, parents; 12 brothers; a sister; a nephew; and a niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice Program or Make A Wish Foundation, in care of Bustard s Funeral Home, 600 CY Ave., Casper 82601.

Survivors include her husband, Charles, son, Chris of Tuscon, AZ, mother, Donna Santistevan of Casper , two grandchildren, 2 brothers, Fred of New Orleans, LA and Chris and his wife Elsa of Casper, WY, two sisters, Kathy Jackson and her husband Ron of Casper and Carla Santistevan of Yreka, CA and the Joe Moreno family of Laramie, WY and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Chris Santistevan, 65, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024 peacefully at his home. Chris was born on April 14, 1959 in Casper, Wyoming, to Alfredo Santistevan and Donna (Grubtill) Santistevan. He enjoyed fishing with his father and brother during his younger childhood. Chris attended schools in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School. Chris met the love of his life, Elsa, and they were married for 34 years.
Chris loved dancing, music, singing, making people laugh, creating things with his hands. Chris was a big fan of cars. He enjoyed taking Sunday trips with his wife and nieces to Pamida in Douglas and Chilli's in Cheyenne. He loved his many nieces and nephews endlessly. He spent many weekends camping at Alcova Lake and at Thermopolis with his family where they would camp and enjoy the Hot Springs.
He enjoyed doing yard work. His favorite food was pizza.
He played basketball and little league baseball in his younger age and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.
He worked the majority of his life in the two-family businesses namely Santistevan Construction and Majestic Marble of Wyoming. He had the heart of a giant. He never complained about his health issues.
Chris is survived by his wife, Elsa, and brother, Fred (Jolaine) Santistevan, sister, Kathleen (Ron) Jackson, and sister, Carla Santistevan, fur baby, Chocolate, and several nieces and nephews.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Billie Jo (Chip) King, and Joy Lee Santistevan, grandparents, and fur baby, LeRoy.
A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4pm until 6pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Newcomer with graveside services following at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Chris Santistevan, 65, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024 peacefully at his home. Chris was born on April 14, 1959 in Casper, Wyoming, to Alfredo Santistevan and Donna (Grubtill) Santistevan. He enjoyed fishing with his father and brother during his younger childhood. Chris attended schools in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School. Chris met the love of his life, Elsa, and they were married for 34 years.
Chris loved dancing, music, singing, making people laugh, creating things with his hands. Chris was a big fan of cars. He enjoyed taking Sunday trips with his wife and nieces to Pamida in Douglas and Chilli's in Cheyenne. He loved his many nieces and nephews endlessly. He spent many weekends camping at Alcova Lake and at Thermopolis with his family where they would camp and enjoy the Hot Springs.
He enjoyed doing yard work. His favorite food was pizza.
He played basketball and little league baseball in his younger age and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.
He worked the majority of his life in the two-family businesses namely Santistevan Construction and Majestic Marble of Wyoming. He had the heart of a giant. He never complained about his health issues.
Chris is survived by his wife, Elsa, and brother, Fred (Jolaine) Santistevan, sister, Kathleen (Ron) Jackson, and sister, Carla Santistevan, fur baby, Chocolate, and several nieces and nephews.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Billie Jo (Chip) King, and Joy Lee Santistevan, grandparents, and fur baby, LeRoy.
A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4pm until 6pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 1:30 pm at Newcomer with graveside services following at Highland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
