Fred Foster Hawkins married Irene Frances Shimp, daughter of Delbert Shimp and Elenaor Dell Chearhart, on 11 February 1919 at St. Joseph Co., Indiana.¹ Fred Foster Hawkins died on 23 January 1972 at Stuart, Martin Co., Florida, at age 75.² He was buried at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.² He lived in February 1958 at Granger, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

     Meredith Michal Hawkins was born on 11 October 1961 at Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Robert Fred Hawkins and Dorothy Mae Gant. Meredith Michal Hawkins married Donald John White on 29 November 1980 at Sarasota Co., Florida. Meredith Michal Hawkins died on 18 June 2005 at Sarasota, Sarasota Co., Florida, at age 43.

     Robert Fred Hawkins was born on 19 November 1921 at Harris Twsp., St. Joseph Co., Indiana.^1,2 He was the son of Fred Foster Hawkins and Irene Frances Shimp. Robert Fred Hawkins married Dorothy Mae Gant on 4 August 1947 at Indiana. Robert Fred Hawkins died on 16 October 2009 at Sarasota, Sarasota Co., Florida, at age 87.² He was buried at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.²

     Rudolph Simonds Hawkins was born on 14 February 1859 at Kankakee, Kankakee Co., Illinois.¹ He married Carrie Evelyn Foster. Rudolph Simonds Hawkins died on 19 April 1945 at Granger, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 86.¹ He was buried at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.¹

     Charlotte Hay was born on 24 July 1799 at Baltimore, Maryland.^1,2 She was baptized abt 06 Oct 1799/1800.³ She was the daughter of Johannes Hay and Barbara Mayer. Charlotte Hay was born on 6 October 1799.² She was born on 6 October 1800.² She married John (II) Harn, son of Caleb Harn and Sally Davis, on 2 December 1822 at Baltimore Co., Maryland.^2,4 Charlotte Hay died on 3 August 1867 at age 68.^3,2,5 She was buried at Harn Family Cemetery, Harvest Hills, Frederick Co., Maryland.⁵ They also had five children who died in infancy.

     Johannes Hay was also known as John. He married Barbara Mayer. Father was Adam Hay.

     Anson R. Hayden was born on 24 December 1835 at Somerset Junction, Somerset Co., Maine.¹ He married Delia Goodbeau in 1875 at Minnesota. Anson R. Hayden died on 25 June 1885 at Anoka, Anoka Co., Minnesota, at age 49.¹ He was buried at Orono Cemetery, Elk River, Sherburne Co., Minnesota.¹

     Eva Fay Hayes was born on 8 February 1912 at Harrison Co., Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Harry Thomas Hayes and Lovena Righter Nichols.¹ Eva Fay Hayes married Russell Thomas Geoghegan in 1932 at Cynthiana, Harrison Co., Kentucky.¹ Eva Fay Hayes died on 1 June 1998 at Lee Co., Florida, at age 86.¹

     Harry Thomas Hayes was born on 27 March 1882 at Harrison Co., Kentucky.¹ He married Lovena Righter Nichols, daughter of Daniel Talbott Nichols and Sarah Ellen Tolle, on 26 March 1904.¹ Harry Thomas Hayes died on 7 August 1951 at Harrison Co., Kentucky, at age 69.¹

     Joyce Ann Hayes married Keith Lawrence Harn, son of Wilbur Eugene Harn and Helen Florence Vliet, on 21 August 1965 at Los Angeles Co., California.

     Roberta Alice Hayward also went by the name of Bertha. She was born on 3 March 1886 at Warsaw, Kosciusko Co., Indiana. She was born on 3 March 1880.¹ She married Milo Alvin Mock, son of Ira Mock and Julia Stuard, on 24 April 1925 at Niles, Berrien Co., Michigan. Roberta Alice Hayward died on 22 January 1948 at Elkhart, Elkhart Co., Indiana, at age 61.¹ She was buried on 24 January 1948 at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, Elkhart Co., Indiana.¹

     Chelsea Leigh Head is the daughter of George Eugene Head and Cynthia Joanne Greenwood.

     George Eugene Head married Cynthia Joanne Greenwood, daughter of Robert James Greenwood and Patsy Kay O'Boyle, on 28 November 1987 at Michigan.

     Sharayah Lynae Head is the daughter of George Eugene Head and Cynthia Joanne Greenwood. Sharayah Lynae Head married Blaine Wilson McCauley on 1 July 2010 at Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana.

     Dennis Earl Headrick is the son of Donald Eugene Headrick and Mildred Mae Howerton.

     Donald Eugene Headrick was born on 6 May 1915 at St. Paul, Ramsey Co., Minnesota.¹ He was the son of John Henry Headrick and Frances Margaret Clow. Donald Eugene Headrick married Mildred Mae Howerton in 1936. Donald Eugene Headrick died on 3 February 1969 at Lompoc, Santa Barbara Co., California, at age 53.¹ He was buried at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery, Lompoc, Santa Barbara Co., California.¹

     Gail Patricia Headrick was born on 3 December 1937 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., California.^1,2 She was the daughter of Donald Eugene Headrick and Mildred Mae Howerton. Gail Patricia Headrick married Garry Edward Benson on 17 September 1960 at Santa Barbara Co., California. Gail Patricia Headrick died on 8 February 2015 at California at age 77.² She was buried at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery, Lompoc, Santa Barbara Co., California.^1,2 She graduated in 1955 at Lompoc High School, Lompoc, Santa Barbara Co., California.¹

Gail (Headrick) Benson was born in Los Angeles on December 3, 1937 to Donald and Mildred (Howerton) Headrick. Ten days later, the three of them moved back to Mildred’s home town of Lompoc. Twelve years later, younger brother Dennis came along and Gail became the default baby sitter.

She lived a full life and often reminisced about her Lompoc childhood – stories of living in an apartment in the historic Rudolph Mansion; stories of her doting father who considered her “Daddy’s little girl;” stories of her grandparents, Frank and Bertha Howerton and their “ranch” on West Ocean Ave; stories of her colorful cowboy uncles; and stories of her many cousins and their escapades.

Gail graduated from Lompoc High School in 1955 and then went on to Allan Hancock College to study Journalism and English. As a member of the Lompoc High School Blue Ribbon Band, she played Oboe, Saxophone and Glockenspiel. In her younger years, she took piano lessons from Faye Porter and later became a talented organist, playing background music for the annual Alpha Club Flower Show and for many local fashion shows. She became acquainted with Pat Farage, who managed the local Baldwin Piano and Organ Studio, and soon began teaching organ techniques to eager students.

Her father served as a volunteer firefighter with the Lompoc Fire Department. It was there where she caught the eye of a young firefighter. As they say, he pursued her until she caught him. Gail and that young firefighter, Garry Benson, were married in 1960. Garry later admitted that he had first met her when she was twelve years old, while she was visiting her aunt and uncle, Ruby and Smitty Howerton, in Goleta.

Never one to avoid hard work, Gail spent a couple of summers staying with her aunt and uncle, Edith and Harry Sorensen in Grover City, while earning money picking strawberries. She began her formal working career at Miller Pharmacy, after which she was employed in the traffic department at Johns-Manville. Her last “paying” job was in the family business, Lompoc Valley Stationers and Bookstore, in the mid-1970s.

Her passion was genealogy. The research fascinated and challenged her. She documented both sides of her family history and, to her dismay, found no Native American blood and, most importantly, no horse thieves.
She recently received her 50 year pin from the Native Daughters of the Golden West and was a charter member of the Lompoc Valley Historical Society and member of the now inactive Lompoc Pioneer Society.

Gail and Garry entered the dog show world showing Papillons. They were not experienced handlers, but managed to show champion dogs alongside professionals with many years of experience. She is survived by three of her beloved fur babies; Corky, Queso and Cowboy.

Gail will always be remembered for her dedication to family. She was one who could be critical and make light of family members, but woe be to those outsiders who did the same. Those critics would soon discover her “other side” as she defiantly defended her family. Opinionated and outspoken are the two qualities that summed her up.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, all her aunts and uncles, and her “adopted” brother, Keith Parsley. She is survived by her husband, Garry Benson and brother, Dennis Headrick of Lompoc, her “adopted” kids, Larry and Carla Harrison of Georgia, her beloved Headrick and Howerton cousins, and the Parsley family of Orcutt, whom she considered her extended family and who accepted her as one of their own.
