David Eugene Warfel
April 6, 1945 – April 19, 2012

On April 19, 2012, an angel came from heaven and took our beloved husband, daddy and Grandpa Mac by the hand and led him home.

Dave was born to George and Mildred Warfel in Lovell, Wyoming, on April 6, 1945. He attended school in Hyattville, Greybull and graduated from Basin, Wyoming, after which he went to Casper College.
Dave met the love of his life, Sandra Jane Smith, in May of 1962 and the couple married on April 9, 1966. From that day forward, the couple would remain devoted, each other’s right hand and best friend. The couple’s joy continued when they were blessed with two beautiful girls, DaNae and DaNette. Dave felt so blessed to have his three girls protecting him through his life.

In 1990 Dave was then blessed again with his “one and only” grandson, Gene. Dave learned early on in his life the Lord was not done blessing him with beautiful women. In 1993, along came his first two granddaughters, Lacee and Brailey; in 1995 granddaughter number three, Kobie; 1999, Rylee; and last but not least 2001, his last granddaughter, Harlie.

He is survived by Sandi, his wife of 46 years, and their daughters, DaNae (Pablo) Good and DaNette (Dave) Messinger.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law.

Mac, thank you for always being our rock in our day-to-day struggles; you always made us believe that if we believed in ourselves, there wasn’t anything we couldn’t do.

Daddy, being your daughter was a blessing from above. You were an example every day of what a true father and husband should be. Your loving word of wisdom could always soothe a broken heart. You’re in our hearts forever and no man could ever fill your shoes.

Babe . . . I miss and love you so much. Right now my heart hurts so bad for the love we have always had, but comforts me in knowing we will be together again.

A viewing was held on Monday, April 23, 2012, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull. Pastor Derek Mowery officiated at the service. Burial followed at the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery in Greybull and a reception followed at the Greybull Elks BPOE Lodge #1431.

Memorials will be received in Dave’s name at Security State Bank, P.O. Box 531, Basin, WY 82410-0531. Proceeds will go to Hands Across the Saddle.

Emanuel Warfel died on 19 May 1873 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri, at age 77.¹ He was buried at Miner Cemetery, Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.¹

     Emmet Alvin Warfel was born on 25 October 1918 at Sheridan, Sheridan Co., Wyoming. He was the son of Paul Fred Warfel and Floy Madelenda Parks. (an unknown value.)¹ Emmet Alvin Warfel died on 16 February 1945 at Fukuoka POW Camp #1 - Kashii, Japan, at age 26. He was buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis Co., Missouri, Plot: SECTION 82 SITE 1B-1D.

     George Oren Warfel was born circa 1870 at Pennsylvania. He was the son of James Alexander Warfel and Martle Helen Hopkins. George Oren Warfel died in 1958 at Missouri.

     George Stewart Warfel was born on 27 June 1913 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.² He was the son of Paul Fred Warfel and Floy Madelenda Parks.¹

George Warfel was admitted to Montana State Prison on 26Jan1933 when he was 19-years old. Convicted of grand larceny with a sentence of 2-years for stealing a horse in Bridger, Montana. Paroled 01Apr1932.³ George Stewart Warfel married Mildred Fay Weidman, daughter of William Frederick Weidman and Jane Walker, on 3 August 1935 at Roberts, Carbon Co., Montana. George Stewart Warfel lived in August 1979 at Sunlight Basin, Wyoming. His Social Security Number was 517-18-7166 issued in Montana, last residence Powell, Park Co., Wyoming. Born 27 Jun 1913 and died 06 May 1998. He died on 6 May 1998 at Sage View Care Center, Rock Springs, Sweetwater Co., Wyoming, at age 84.^2,4 He was buried in May 1998 at Cody, Park Co., Wyoming, cremated.⁴

GEORGE STEWARD WARFEL

A memorial service for George Steward Warfel was conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, May 15, 1998, at the Greybull Elks Club, 622 Greybull Ave., Greybull.

Warfel, 84, of 601 Second Avenue West, died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 1998 at the Sage View Care Center, where he had been a patient since Dec. 23, 1997. A resident of Rock Springs since December and a former resident of Powell and Greybull, Warfel had been in ill health since October 1997.

He was born June 27, 1913 in Reynolds County Mo., the son of the late Paul and Lena Parks Warfel. He attended schools in Missouri.
Warfel married the former Mildred Weidman in Joiliet, Mont. on Aug. 3, 1935.
He was the sheriff of Big Horn County for 23 years and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1431 and the Wyoming Peace Officers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of Lovell, and one son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandi Warfel of Greybull; two daughters and sons-in-law, Fay and George Struck of Rock Springs, and Sharon and Merrill Sanders of Cody; one brother, Roy Warfel of Shoshone; five grandsons Mark Sanders of Rock Springs, Dan Struck of Los Angeles, David Struck of Lander, Scott Sanders and wife Lisa of Kaycee, Brent Sanders and wife Debbie of Evanston; seven granddaughters, Bonnie Legerski and husband Bob, Terri Struck, Susan Nichols and husband Steve all of Rock Springs, Sherill Sorenson and husband Mark of Weston, Fla., Laurie Toney and husband Mark of South Haven, Mich., DaNae Good and husband Pablo of Greybull, DaNett Vigil and husband Joe of Worland, and 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward and Emett.
The body was cremated.²

     Georgia Fay Warfel is the daughter of George Stewart Warfel and Mildred Fay Weidman. Georgia Fay Warfel married George William Struck, son of William Ismael Struck and Cleofitas Trujillo, on 21 April 1956.

     Glen Alden Warfel was born on 17 August 1894 at Doss, Dent Co., Missouri. He was the son of James Stewart Warfel and Harriet Edwards. Glen Alden Warfel married Mazel Jackson. Glen Alden Warfel lived in January 1955 at Missouri.¹ He died on 3 February 1978 at Poplar Bluff, Butler Co., Missouri, at age 83.

     Harry Ernest Warfel was born on 23 April 1887 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.¹ He was the son of James Stewart Warfel and Harriet Edwards. Harry Ernest Warfel married Edith Lewis on 15 August 1908 at Greene Co., Missouri. The cause of death was school bus and truck collision. Harry Ernest Warfel died on 1 November 1952 at Fresno, Fresno Co., California, at age 65.¹ He was buried on 6 November 1952 at Floral Memorial Park, Selma, Fresno Co., California.¹

     Isaac H. Warfel was born on 27 December 1827 at Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade. Isaac H. Warfel died on 13 November 1901 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa, at age 73.¹ He was buried at Woodland Cemetery, Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.¹

     James Alexander Warfel was born on 1 January 1824 at Altoona, Blair Co., Pennsylvania.² He was the son of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade. James Alexander Warfel married Martle Helen Hopkins, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hopkins and Catherine Smith, in 1850 at Pennsylvania. James Alexander Warfel died on 27 January 1902 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri, at age 78.² The cause of death was disease of the bladder. He was buried at Miner Cemetery, Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.²

Funeral Services For James Warfel To Be Held Today

Funeral services for James S. Warfel, 95, will be held at 10 a. m. today, January 27, at the J. L. Robinson Funeral Home. Mr. Warfel died January 24. The Rev. Roy B. Weaklend will officiate. Eurial will be in Floral Memorial Park. A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Warfel was a retired rancher and lived in Selma for 17 years. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Hatten and Mrs. Odel Bellany, both of Selma; Mrs. Virginia Light, Missouri, and Mrs. Lottie Freeman of Visalia; two sons, Paul of Montana and Glenn of Missouri; a brother, Oren Warfel of Missouri; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

     Jesse Hampton Warfel was born in June 1837 at Miflin, Juniata Co., Pennsylvania.^1,2 He was the son of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade. Jesse Hampton Warfel married Martha Farrell Davis on 1 March 1859 at New Castle, Lawrence Co., Pennsylvania.² Jesse Hampton Warfel began military service on 3 September 1864.³

Jesse was a Private in Company M of tbe 6th Regiment, Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery during the Civil War.³ He ended military service on 13 June 1865.³



GOLDEN WEDDING.
Last Monday Jesse H. Warfel and wife celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Warfel was born in Miflin, Pa and reared in Lawrence county of the the same state. Martha Davis was born in Lawrence county. Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Warfel were married in New Castle, Pa., March 1, 1859. They removed to Youngstown, Ohio, in 1882.
In 1884 they removed to Brown county, Kas., near Morrill, where they have resided ever since. They now reside on. their farm four miles west and two miles north of Morrill, where they have resided ever since. They have both passed the seventy-year mark and are enjoying excellent health. There was born to them eight children, five boys and three girls, all of whom are living; and twenty-three grandchildren living and two dead.

A large number of their relatives and friends gathered to enjoy the occasion with them. A sumptuous dinner was served to the many guests gathered. After dinner, the time was spent in going over old times, it being forty-two years since some of them had seen each other. Rev. Fees of Robinson performed the ceremony, after which Mr. Duffe of Holton took the bride and groom a fine ride in his automobile. The News joins with the many friends in wishing Mr. and Mrs. Warfel many more happy and prosperous years of wedded life.

Lelia Virginia Warfel married William Henry Light. Lelia Virginia Warfel lived in January 1955 at Missouri.¹ She died on 12 January 1967 at Salem, Fresno Co., California, at age 68.² She was buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis Co., Missouri.²

     LeRoy William Warfel was born on 7 September 1939 at Livingston, Park Co., Montana. He was the son of Paul Fred Warfel and Floy Madelenda Parks. LeRoy William Warfel married Ann Williamson. LeRoy William Warfel lived in August 1979 at Billings, Yellowstone Co., Montana. He died on 14 June 2008 at Billings Heights, Yellowstone Co., Montana, at age 68. He was cremated.

     Lottie Maxine Warfel was also known as Sue. She was born on 11 September 1901 at Doss, Dent Co., Missouri. She was the daughter of James Stewart Warfel and Harriet Edwards. Lottie Maxine Warfel married Samuel Joseph Egbert on 13 June 1921 at Billings, Yellowstone Co., Montana.¹ Lottie Maxine Warfel married Lawrence M. Freeman on 1 November 1934 at Gering, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska. Lottie Maxine Warfel and William Forest Reynolds were unmarried partners at St. Louis, Missouri.

Lottie never married William Reynolds. He was a married man, and he went back to his wife before their son Gary (Freeman) was born.

Lottie Maxine Warfel lived in January 1955 at Visalia, Tulare Co., California.² She lived in August 1979 at Fresno, Fresno Co., California. She died on 17 October 1990 at Kingsburg, Fresno Co., California, at age 89.³ She was buried on 24 October 1990 at Floral Memorial Park, Selma, Fresno Co., California.³


Lottie 'Sue' Freeman
A service was held Tuesday at Page Funeral Chapel, Selma, for Lottie "Sue" Freeman of Dinuba. Bishop Alva D. Blackburn officiated. Burial was in Floral Memorial Park, Selma. Mrs. Freeman died Oct. 17. She was 89. She was born in Dent County, Mo., and had lived in Fresno before moving to Dinuba. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a homemaker. She is survived by three sons, Alvin Leroy Egbert of Oakdale, Kenneth Warfel Egbert and Gary Freeman, both of Dinuba; a daughter, Glyn Buchanan of Dinuba; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

     Nancy Warfel was born on 27 May 1818 at Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade. Nancy Warfel married William W. Weston. Nancy Warfel died on 19 September 1918 at Grant, Montgomery Co., Iowa, at age 100.¹ She was buried at Grant Cemetery, Grant, Montgomery Co., Iowa.¹

     Nancy Adaline Warfel was born circa 1867 at Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of James Alexander Warfel and Martle Helen Hopkins.

     Paul Edward Warfel was born on 4 February 1924 at Kane, Big Horn Co., Wyoming. He was the son of Paul Fred Warfel and Floy Madelenda Parks. Paul Edward Warfel graduated in 1941 at Clyde Park High School, Clyde Park, Park Co., Montana. He married Nancy Nesbit on 24 March 1946 at Livingston, Park Co., Montana. Paul Edward Warfel lived in August 1979 at Livingston, Park Co., Montana. He died on 2 July 1990 at Billings, Yellowstone Co., Montana, at age 66.¹

     Paul Fred Warfel was born on 9 December 1890 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.² He was the son of James Stewart Warfel and Harriet Edwards.¹ Paul Fred Warfel married Floy Madelenda Parks, daughter of George Washington Parks and Rosa Bell Christopher, on 8 August 1912 at Centerville, Reynolds Co., Missouri.³

The World War Draft Registration Card for Fred Paul Warfel listed him born 09Dec1890 in Salem, Missouri; having a wife and 4-year old child.⁴ Paul Fred Warfel lived in January 1955 at Montana.⁵ He died on 12 August 1979 at Lovell, Big Horn Co., Wyoming, at age 88.^2,6 He was buried at Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, Big Horn Co., Wyoming.^2,6

     Ruth Helen Warfel was born on 27 November 1892 at Dent Co., Missouri. She was the daughter of James Stewart Warfel and Harriet Edwards. Ruth Helen Warfel married Robert Emmett Hatten on 11 January 1911 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri. Ruth Helen Warfel lived in January 1955 at Selma, Fresno Co., California.¹ She lived in August 1979 at Selma, Fresno Co., California. She died on 26 October 1980 at Selma, Fresno Co., California, at age 87.

     Sarah Elizabeth Warfel was born on 7 April 1865 at Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of James Alexander Warfel and Martle Helen Hopkins. Sarah Elizabeth Warfel also went by the name of Sadie. She married Thomas Monroe Gaines in 1882.² Sarah Elizabeth Warfel died on 6 December 1901 at Dent Co., Missouri, at age 36.¹ She was buried at Miner Cemetery, Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.¹

     Selina Frances Warfel was born on 24 June 1845 at Shade Gap, Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade. Selina Frances Warfel married John R. Anderson on 14 November 1864. Selina Frances Warfel married George Frank Nelson on 21 January 1884. Selina Frances Warfel died on 24 April 1938 at New Castle, Lawrence Co., Pennsylvania, at age 92.^2,1

Mrs. Selina F. Anderson, widow of John R. Anderson, passed away in the home of the daughter Mrs.
Harry Howard of Sunnyside, at noon on Sunday. She would have been 93 years old in June.

Mrs. Anderson was born June 24, 1845, at Huntington, Pa. When she was a child five years old the family moved to Lawrence county, and Mrs. Anderson's home was here ever since. She was a member of the
Mahoning Methodist Episcopal Church.

Four daughters. Mrs. A. T Johnston of New Castle, Mrs. Harry Howard of Sunnyside, Mrs. G. L. Zimmerman of Youngstown, O., and Mrs. Lewis Wettich of New Castle; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty- three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive.

Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 2 p. m. in Mrs. Howard's home at Sunnyside, (near Mahoningtown) with Rev. C. H. Hagardorn, pastor of the Mahoning M. E. church in charge. Interment will be made al Coitsville.

     Thomas Brewster Warfel was born on 29 June 1856 at Blair Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of James Alexander Warfel and Martle Helen Hopkins. Thomas Brewster Warfel died on 12 August 1938 at Steelville, Crawford Co., Missouri, at age 82.¹ He was buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.¹

     Thomas Edward Warfel was born on 4 January 1835 at Blair Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade. Thomas Edward Warfel married Nancy Jane Hopkins.

Served in the Civil War. "Joined for Duty and Enrolled" in Regiment 187, Company K, on March 29, 1864, at Hollidaysburg PA. "Mustered into Service" on May 4, 1864, at Harrisburg PA. "Mustered out with Company, August 3, 1865." Regiment 187, Company K, was the Guard of Honor for the body of President Lincoln during the Lincoln Funeral Train journey from Baltimore MD to Philadelphia PA and while the President lay in state in Independence Hall. Thomas Edward Warfel died on 7 October 1916 at Doss, Dent Co., Missouri, at age 81.¹ He was buried at Miner Cemetery, Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.¹

     Ulysses Grant Warfel was born in 1873 at Dent Co., Missouri.¹ He was the son of James Alexander Warfel and Martle Helen Hopkins. Ulysses Grant Warfel died in 1900 at Dent Co., Missouri.¹ He was buried at Miner Cemetery, Salem, Dent Co., Missouri.¹

     Viola Adele Warfel was also known as Odel.¹ She was born on 3 October 1888 at Doss, Dent Co., Missouri. She was the daughter of James Stewart Warfel and Harriet Edwards. Viola Adele Warfel married Newton Ingle Bellamy circa 1909. Viola Adele Warfel lived in January 1955 at Selma, Fresno Co., California.¹ She lived in August 1979 at Selma, Fresno Co., California. She died on 28 December 1979 at Fremont, Alameda Co., California, at age 91.
