Clifford Rue Succumbs to Year's Illness

Clifford Gilbert Rue, 56, of 200 Ewald Ave., assistant cashier and real estate loan officer at the First National Bank of Portland, Salem Branch, died early Tuesday morning at his home following an illness of over a year. Rue had worked for the bank here about two years. He was a former manager at First National Bank branches in Molalla, Woodburn and Newberg and a bank examiner for First National at one time. He moved with his parents to Silverton about 40 years ago, attended Silverton High School and started work at the Coolidge and McClaine of Silverton, now the First Silverton Bank. He was born in Hills, Minn., June 24, 1897 and was married in Silverton to Ruth Purdy of Turner in 1930. She survives him.

Rue had been bed ridden for the past three weeks and unable to work for several months. He held membership in the American Legion and Masonic Lodge and attended Central Lutheran Church of Salem. Survivors, besides the widow, are a daughter, Jeanne Rue, Salem; sister, Mrs. Eva Plasket, S Salem; brother, Leonard Rue, Salem; mother, Mrs. Anna Rue, Salem. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Howell-Edwards Chapel with the Rev. G. B. Rundstrom officiating. Interment will be at City View Cemetery.

     David Ruff married Jane Wellehan, daughter of Daniel J. Wellehan Jr. and Jane Mary Costello.

     Maggie Ruff is the daughter of David Ruff and Jane Wellehan.

     Frank Andrew Rumball was born on 9 June 1902 at Fitchburg, Worcester Co., Massachusetts. He married Beatrice Louise Schumacher, daughter of Maurice Marvis Schumacher and Blanche Perkins, on 13 April 1927 at Olympia, Thurston Co., Washington. Frank Andrew Rumball died on 24 May 1980 at Anderson Island, Pierce Co., Washington, at age 77.
