YOUTH AND OLD AGE ELOPE.
LONDON, Ont., August 11.-Samuel Jeffreys and Mrs. Viola Fellows, who eloped from London West a short time ago, were on Saturday committed for trial on the charge of stealing from Aden Fellows, the woman's husband, a lot of furniture that they carried away with them. The peculiar feature of the case is that Jeffreys is only 20 years of age, while the woman is fifty and a grandmother.

Infatuated With a Grandmother.
London, Aug. 10.-A sensational case came before Squire J. B. Smyth to-day in the interim sessions room, when Viola Fellows, a married woman of 50 years, and Samuel Jeffrey, a young man of 20, appeared to answer the charge of conspiracy to injure Adin Felows, husband of the female prisoner, and also stealing a quantity of furniture. Adin Fellows lives in London West, and until recently his wife resided with him, the prisoner Jeffrey boarding with them. About two weeks ago Adin was locked up for being drunk, and on being released found his house closed, his wife, the two children, the boarder and the furniture having disappeared. A short search located young Jeffrey, Mrs. Fellows, the children and the belongings in a small house on the 13th concession of London. At the preliminary examination to-day it came out that the husband was kept supplied with beer by the pair, and that he was dosed with morphine pills when he was inclined to be troublesome. The drayman who moved Fellows' furniture gave testimony, and other witnesses showed that Jeffrey and Mrs. Fellows passed as brother and sister while they lived together. A most ludicrous love letter, supposed to have been written by the youth to Mrs. Fellows (who, by the way, is a grandmother) is among the documents in the case. Prisoners were committed for trial.

In the case of Sam. Jeffrey and Mrs. Viola Fellows, charged with stealing furniture from Adin Fellows, Blackfriars street, London West, about the middle of July, no new facts were brought out, but several witnesses testified that the two passed as brother and sister, that the latter was much abused by her husband, who was a drunkard, and that she was going to leave him. Judge Elliot discharged Mrs. Fellows, on the ground that, being the wife of the complainant, she had a just claim to a portion of the household goods. Jeffrey was remanded till to- morrow, pending argument in his case.
