Joseph Maxwell Stephenson married Alice Gabriello Summers, daughter of Gabriel Rush Summers and Mercy Ann Longley, on 31 October 1914 at Indiana.¹ Joseph Maxwell Stephenson lived in July 1924 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana. South Bend, Ind., Jan. 12 (AP) Joseph M. Stephenson, 53, publisher of the South Bend News-Times from 1920 until its suspension in 1938, died in a Chicago hospital today after a brain operation Wednesday. A native of Rochester, he came here in 1917 from Gary. He leaves the widow and two children.² He was buried at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.³
