     George Frank Nelson was born on 7 July 1855 at Dent Co., Missouri.¹ He married Selina Frances Warfel, daughter of Emanuel Warfel and Sarah Elizabeth Shade, on 21 January 1884. George Frank Nelson died on 30 May 1937 at Salem, Dent Co., Missouri, at age 81.¹

George Frank Nelson, son of Will and Armanda Nelson, was born in Dent County, July 7, 1855, and died May 30, 1937, at his home near Salem, at the age or 81 years, 10 months and 23 days.
He was united in marriage to Selena Frances Warfel Jan. 21, 1884, and to their union were born seven children, a son, Clifford, preceding his father in death on Oct. 1, 1936. Those surviving are: his wife; children—Mrs. Frank Garrett, of Wash Park, Ill., Ernest, of Belgrade; Roscoe of Jack; Rudolph, Mrs. Carl Norris and Walter, of Salem; 15 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two sisters—Mrs. Geo. Welch, of Custer, and Mrs. Tom Warfel, of Salem; and other relatives and friends.

He spent most of his life in Dent County and was a good husband, father and neighbor. While he did not belong to any church, he led a Christian life, and told his children that he accepted Jesus as his Savior.

Funeral services were held Mon- day at 3 o’clock by the Rev. Mack Heavin at Dry Fork church, with burial under direction of C. K. Spencer.

Ronald G. Nelson, 61, of Red Wing, died Thursday, April 30, 1998 at his home. Services will be 1:30 Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Red Wing, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Homes, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the services. Ronald G. Nelson was born on January 9, 1937 in Red Wing. He married June Banick on April 30, 1960 in Lake City. He had worked for McQuay International in Faribault and was a member of the Faribault Pheasants Forever. He is survived by his wife, June; four children; six grandchildren; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are preferred to St. Pauls Lutheran Church building fund or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.

     Katherine Nemec was born on 28 November 1845 at Jihoceský, Bohemia.¹ She married Vaclac Vitha. Katherine Nemec died on 16 March 1917 at Le Sueur Co., Minnesota, at age 71.¹ She was buried at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery, Montgomery, Le Sueur Co., Minnesota.¹

     Male Nemec married Stacy Margaret Hanson, daughter of male Hanson and Lynn Ellen Francis, after 1999.

     Ann Nemic was born circa 1853 at Bohemia. She married Joseph Nestaval, son of Jacob Nestaval and Mary Mencik, on 18 April 1875 at Montgomery, Le Sueur Co., Minnesota. Ann Nemic died circa 1885.²

     Duane Joseph Nerud is the son of Myles Benjamin Nerud and Jane Marie Swenson. Duane Joseph Nerud married Patricia Ann Lien, daughter of Lloyd Alexander Lien and Geraldine Marie McCarthy, on 15 January 1977 at Faribault, Rice Co., Minnesota.

Myles Benjamin Nerud married Jane Marie Swenson on 7 July 1956 at Dakota Co., Minnesota. Myles Benjamin Nerud died on 19 December 1965 at Rice Co., Minnesota, at age 29; Certificate Number:     031369.¹ He was buried circa January 1966 at Calvary Cemetery, Northfield, Rice Co., Minnesota.¹ Myles was 20 years old when Duane was born.

     Nancy Nesbit was born on 17 June 1926 at Livingston, Park Co., Montana.¹ She married Paul Edward Warfel, son of Paul Fred Warfel and Floy Madelenda Parks, on 24 March 1946 at Livingston, Park Co., Montana. Nancy Nesbit died on 11 August 2016 at Livingston, Park Co., Montana, at age 90.¹ She was buried at Emigrant Cemetery, Park Co., Montana.¹ The cause of death was multiple myeloma cancer.²

     Dr. Bradley Daniel Ness DDS was born on 31 October 1956 at Brainerd, Crow Wing Co., Minnesota.^1,2 He was the son of Russell Miles Ness and Leona Louise Noel. Dr. Bradley Daniel Ness DDS married Tammy Schwartz on 11 November 2002 at Las Vegas, Clark Co., Nevada.² Dr. Bradley Daniel Ness DDS died on 24 July 2007 at Waseca, Waseca Co., Minnesota, at age 50.^1,2 He was buried at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Brainerd, Crow Wing Co., Minnesota.¹ He graduated circa 1974 at Brainerd High School, Brainerd, Crow Wing Co., Minnesota.²

Dr. Bradley Ness

DR. BRADLEY D. NESS, 50, of Waseca died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at his home.

Born in Brainerd, Minnesota on October 31, 1956, he was the son of Russell and Leona (Hilliard) Ness. He graduated from Brainerd High School, attended Brainerd Community College, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1983. Dr. Ness moved to Waseca in 1996 where he purchased Dr. Al Rieck’s dental practice. He married Tammy Schwartz on November 11, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed golfing, boating, flying his airplane, biking, spending time with family and friends, and time spent at his cabin. Dr. Ness was a member of the Federal Academy of General Dentistry.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Waseca and two daughters, Emily Ness and Kirsten Ness of Alexandria. He is also survived by his parents, Russell and Leona Ness of Baxter; one brother, Mark Ness of Delano; and one nephew, Andrew Ness.

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Saturday, July 28, 2007 from 4-7 PM and continue on Sunday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Dan Doering officiating.

     Russell Miles Ness was born on 25 September 1924 at Lengby, Polk Co., Minnesota.^1,2 He married Leona Louise Noel, daughter of Archie Cleveland Noel and Lillian Elizabeth Larson, on 14 July 1946 at Bagley, Clearwater Co., Minnesota.^1,3 Russell Miles Ness died on 20 February 2021 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Brainerd, Crow Wing Co., Minnesota, at age 96.^1,2 He was buried on 23 April 2021 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley, Minnesota.^1,2 He graduated circa 1942 at Fosston High School, Fosston, Polk Co., Minnesota.¹

Russell Ness
September 25, 1924 — February 20, 2021

Russell Miles Ness, 96, of Brainerd, MN passed away on February 20, 2021 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Brainerd, Minnesota. Memorial service will be 11am April 23, 2021 at the Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home with a visitation 1 hour prior. Graveside services and military honors will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley, MN on April 23, 2021. A reception following the interment will be held at the home of Mark and Jill Ness.

Russell was the son of Esther and Andrew Ness and was born on September 25, 1924. He was baptized and confirmed in the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Lengby, MN where he grew up on a small farm, attended country school and graduated from Fosston High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean on the Destroyer Escort US William T. Powell. After the war he lived briefly in Bagley, MN where he married Leona L. Hilliard of Lengby on July 14, 1946 and they moved to Brainerd in 1947. Together they had two sons Brig. Gen. Mark R. Ness (retired USAF), and Dr. Bradley D. Ness, DDS.

Russell and Leona were avid members of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Brainerd for many years in a variety of leadership roles. Russell was a longtime member of the Brainerd Kiwanis, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He volunteered regularly with Crow Wing County Social Services.

Russell was a federal employee at Camp Ripley, MN and a longtime member of the Minnesota Army National Guard. After 30 years of government service, he retired in 1984 as the Senior State Auditor for the U.S. Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO) and from the Nation Guard at the rank of Sergeant Major.

Russ loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, wood-working and wood carving projects, and traveling to his winter home in Tucson, AZ with Leona. He will be sorely missed for his kindness, quiet and gentle personality, and a genuine spirit of great character, generosity and integrity. Lost to us are his uplifting and delightful sense of humor and positive outlook. He was admired for his religious conviction evident in his caring lifelong example.

Russell is survived by his son Mark Ness and Jill (Thompson) of Baxter, grandson Andrew Ness of Minneapolis, step-grandsons Ben Ramsland, Tom and Chelsea (Nester) Ramsland, and John Ramsland. He is also survived by grandchildren Emily Ness (Adolfo Castro) of Woodbury and Kirsten Ness of Alexandria, great grandchildren Leona, Lily and Logan Ramsland of Colorado Springs and Kai Castro of Woodbury.

Russell was preceded in death by his mother Esther, Sisters Inez Cartright and Ariel Larson of Bagley and brother Lester Solberg of Lengby, MN. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Leona and cherished son Dr. Bradley Ness of Waseca, MN.
