Florence Grace Blinn died on 13 April 1944 at West Bridgewater, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, at age 34.¹ She was buried on 15 April 1944 at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania.¹ The cause of death was Accidental Conflagnations - Home burned - smothered and burned beyond recognition.

BEAVER FALLS, Pa., April 13. Mrs. Florence McMasters, 34, and four of her five children were burned to death early today in a fire which destroyed four Fallston houses.

Mrs. McMasters' husband, Franklin, 38, was treated in Beaver Valley General Hospital here for burns of the face, neck and arms. Their other son, Jacob, 13, uninjured, was taken to the hospital because he had no other place to go. The flames leaped to the adjoining frame houses, driving 15 other persons into the near freezing weather. Besides Mrs. McMasters, the dead were her two daughters, Sally, 8 and Jane, eight-months and her two sons, Jack, 6, and William, 3.

WAKES SCREAMING
McMasters said his wife awakened him about 3 a. m., screaming: "Franklin get up; the house is full of smoke."
He said his wife disappeared. apparently trying to reach the children's bedroom. He tried to reach them also, he said, but was driven back by flames.
McMasters said he and Jacob escaped by dropping to the ground from a second story porch.

Three fire companies- Fallston, New Brighton and Bridgewater battled the blaze for three hours. Firemen estimated the damage at $20,000.

NARROW ESCAPE
"Bud" Douds, his wife and three children who shared the other half of the double frame house in which the McMasters family lived barely escaped.

A neighbor, Mrs. George Kalcevic, said she climbed a stepladder and helped the three Douds children out a window. Mrs. Kalcevic, her husband and their four children were burned out of their home as were Louis Celinscak, his wife and their two sons. Firemen said the fire apparently in the kitchen of the McMasters home.
A neighbor, B. Krkue, discovered the blaze.

     Henry Jacob Blinn was born on 29 September 1931 at Rochester, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Howard Merle Blinn and Mabel Alice McMasters. Henry Jacob Blinn married Helen M. Solomon on 30 July 1950 at Olympia, Thurston Co., Washington. Henry Jacob Blinn and an unknown person were divorced before 1973. He married Rose R. Perri on 7 October 1973 at Fresno, Fresno Co., California. Henry Jacob Blinn died on 24 November 1997 at Fresno, Fresno Co., California, at age 66.¹ He was buried at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella, Merced Co., California.¹ He began military service on 6 October 1949 at US Army. He ended military service on 21 September 1955.

     Howard Merle Blinn was born on 25 August 1912 at Rochester, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania.¹ He and Mabel Alice McMasters were unmarried partners at Pennsylvania. Howard Merle Blinn married Katheryn Elizabeth Hammond on 8 August 1934 at New Cumberland, Hancock Co., West Virginia. Howard Merle Blinn died on 23 September 1974 at Hopewell, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, at age 62.¹ He was buried at Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum, Beaver, Beaver Co., Pennsylvania.¹

     David Manuel Bliss was born on 17 July 1845 at Lima, Allen Co., Ohio.¹ He married Mary Araelle Lytle, daughter of Reynolds Knox Lytle and Martha Louisa Major, on 5 January 1867 at Ohio.^2,3 David Manuel Bliss died in January 1931 at Delphos, Ohio, at age 85.

DAVID M. BLISS, farmer, P. O. Delphos, was born at Lima, Ohio, July 17, 1845; son of Col. Lester and Belinda (Hover) Bliss. From the high schools of the county, he entered the Ohio Wesleyan University, at Delaware, studying there two years. He spent some time reading law, with the intention of following the legal profession, but eventually engaged in mercantile business at Delphos, for a year and a half, then went to Sidney, Ohio, and edited the Sidney Journal for over a year, after which time he returned to this county, and turned his attention to farming and breeding shorthorn thorough-bred cattle, of the Lady Elizabeth stock. Mr. Bliss served the people as justice of the peace and township treasurer etc. He was married January 5, 1867, to Mary A. Lytle, who died nine months later without issue. She was a daughter of R. K. Lytle, of Delphos. Our subject's second marriage occurred September 20, 1869, with Alice J. Neel, who was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, September 10, 1845, and by this union were born five children: Lester L., born August 10, 1870; Neel V., born March 28, 1872; Charles M. and Morgan C. (twins), born September 11, 1876, died in infancy; and Mary Aldulia, born November 15,1878. Our subject is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In politics, he is a Democrat.¹

     Mary Etta Blodgett was born on 5 May 1868 at Browning, Schuyler Co., Illinois. She was born circa 1868.¹ She was the daughter of Ezra Blodgett and Margaret Frances Ware. Mary Etta Blodgett was born in May 1870 at Illinois.² She married Stephen Adrian Harn, son of Levi Harn and Emily Burgess, in 1887. Mary Etta Blodgett died on 14 March 1924 at Frederick, Schuyler Co., Illinois, at age 55.³ She was buried at Messerer Cemetery, Pleasant View, Schuyler Co., Illinois.³
