Velma Bernice Brooke, 89 years, passed away on March 13, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. Velma was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Homer Eustes and Leanna (McCants) Oylear. She graduated from high school in Los Angeles. In 1972 Velma and Reid Brooke were united in marriage in Molalla, Ore. Velma is survived by her son and wife, Alfred and Linda Hudson, Ava, Mo; cousin, Dave Ivey, Ava; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepsisters; and other relatives and friends. Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Memorial services will be at a later date and time in the Ava Church of Christ.
