DOWAGIAC - Richard M. Accoe, 87, began life on July 14, 1920, in Mishawaka, the son of Achiel and Rosalie (Lootens) Accoe. He grew up and had lived in the area his entire life. Richard served his country in the United States Navy at the end of World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline Monhaut on February 19, 1944, in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend. Richard was a dairy farmer and a district manager for the Asgrow Seed Company. He also was an Alta-Genetic Distributor. He served on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Holstein Association and the Cass County Youth Fair Board. He was an FFA and 4-H advisor, and very much enjoyed sharing his knowledge of agriculture with the youth. He was a member of the Dowagiac Elks Lodge #889 where he enjoyed playing pitch and he enjoyed playing bid euchre with his family. Richard was a parishioner at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. His loving family includes his wife, Pauline Accoe of Dowagiac; his children, Richard J. "Butch" (Lynn) Accoe of Dowagiac, Katherine (Chris) Orr of South Bend, Michael (Sue) Accoe and David (Joyce) Accoe, both of Dowagiac; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a brother, George (Helen) Accoe of Wakarusa, IN; and a sister, Evelyn (Albert) VanPuyvelde of Moline, IL. Richard passed away on Friday, March 28th, in Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie (Joe) Bokon. His family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home where Father Leo Taubitz will lead a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Taubitz on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. Richard will be laid to rest at Mission Hills Cemetery, Niles. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Cass County Youth Fair. Born Dec. 26, 1907, near Marietta to William P. and Mary E. Smith Ackerson, she married Onzelo G. Harn Dec. 23, 1926, in Lewistown. He died Oct. 11, 1990. One grandson, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Doris Baker of Rushville and Violet Lashbrook of Beardstown; one son, Donald of Oklahoma City, Okla; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Perry Ackerson and Clarence Ackerson, both of Bushnell, Glen Ackerson of Pekin, and William Ackerson of Marietta; and three sisters, Florence Bollinger of Mesa, Ariz., Charlotte Krusan of Canton, and Pearl Pendl of Bellevue.
She had worked at the Cudahy Packing Company and Mickleberry Packing Company in Rushville for many years.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Cemetery, Rushville, with the Rev. Michael Cooper officiating. Visitation will be 7 to 9 tonight at Worthington Funeral Home, Rushville.
Memorials may be made to Culbertson Memorial Hospital or St. Luke Health Care Center.2

Glen Ackerson
PEKIN - Glen W. Ackerson, 80, of 2220 State St. died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Jan. 10, 1916, in Bushnell to Glen W. and Marietta Ackerson, he married LaVonda Conley. He later married Carolyn June Stranze. She died in 1991. Six brothers and sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Harrison and Lola Ackerson, both of Pekin, and Kathleen Ackerson of Cleveland; two sons, Robert of Danville and Leslie of Davenport, Iowa; three sisters, Florence Bollinger of Mesa, Ariz., Charlotte Coats of Canton and Pearl Tisdale of Bushnell; three brothers, Perry and Clarence, both of Bushnell, and Guy of Macomb; and eight grandchildren.
He was a member of Laborers Union Local 231 for many years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Laborers International Union.

Glen Ackerson
PEKIN - Glen W. Ackerson, 80, of 2220 State St. died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Jan. 10, 1916, in Bushnell to Glen W. and Marietta Ackerson, he married LaVonda Conley. He later married Carolyn June Stranze. She died in 1991. Six brothers and sisters also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Harrison and Lola Ackerson, both of Pekin, and Kathleen Ackerson of Cleveland; two sons, Robert of Danville and Leslie of Davenport, Iowa; three sisters, Florence Bollinger of Mesa, Ariz., Charlotte Coats of Canton and Pearl Tisdale of Bushnell; three brothers, Perry and Clarence, both of Bushnell, and Guy of Macomb; and eight grandchildren.
He was a member of Laborers Union Local 231 for many years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Laborers International Union.

Carl H. Adler, 80, of 438 1/2 W. Third St., Red Wing, died a St. John's Hospital Sunday morning after a brief illness. Surviving are his wife Edna; three daughters, Mrs. Marian Glawe of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Virginia Wren of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Dorothy Nelson of Red Wing; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Jorgensen, Mrs. Elsie Larson, and Mrs. Verna Sundberg, all of Red Wing; and four brothers, Fred and Herbert Adler of St. Paul, Milton of Los Angeles, and Richard of Red Wing. Cremation will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, St. Paul. A. Swanson Son's Funeral Chapel, Red Wing, is in charge of arrangements. He was cremated at Minnesota.
