Funeral services are incomplete for Mrs. Nellie Mae Purdy, 70, of 810 W. Fourth, who died Wednesday afternoon in Coffeyville Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient of the intensive care unit since suffering a heart attack at her home on March 6.
The daughter of Ollie and Stella Hagood, Mrs. Purdy was born April 13, 1900 at Fayetteville, Ark. She moved with her parents as a small child to Dearing. She was married her to Lee S. Purdy April 6, 1919 and the couple moved to a home at 810 W. Fourth where Mrs. Purdy resided at the time of her death. Mr. Purdy, who was a printer at The Journal for over 50 years, died Oct 212, 1963.
Mrs. Purdy opened Nell's Beauty Shop in her home in 1929 and was active as a beautician until she became ill. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Kansas State Cosmetology Association and Southeast Kansas Cosmetologist's Unit 16. Survivors include a son, Gene of Baxter Springs; a brother, Floyd Hagood of Neosho, Mo; and three grandchildren.

Levinia Haight was born on 28 August 1735.1,2,3 She was the daughter of David Haight and Millecent Lane. Levinia Haight married Elijah Purdy, son of Jonathan Purdy and Mary Hart. Levinia Haight died on 8 August 1811 at White Plains, Westchester Co., New York, at age 75.3 She died on 18 August 1811 at age 75.1 Had 10 kids, 7 by marriage. She was buried at Jonathan Purdy Family Cemetery, White Plains, Westchester Co., New York.3

Margaret M. Haines was born on 17 June 1845 at Tazewell Co., Illinois.1,2 She was born circa 1850 at Illinois. She married Albert A. Fellows, son of William Leander Fellows and Mary Pauline Higby, on 14 September 1865 at Livingston Co, Illinois.1 Margaret M. Haines died on 25 September 1937 at Amherst, Buffalo Co., Nebraska, at age 92.2 She was buried at Stanley Cemetery, Amherst, Buffalo Co., Nebraska.2
