World War I Draft Registration lists Luther Homer Perkins born 03 Jul 1891 in Morris, Minnesota; registered in Chelan Co., Washington, occupation of farmer, says he supports his wife and sister of 10, blue eyes and brown hair.⁵

     Lydia Perkins was born on 3 June 1632.^1,2 She was baptized on 3 June 1632 at 1st Church, Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts.¹ She was the daughter of John Perkins Sr. and Judith Gater.¹ Lydia Perkins married Henry Bennett circa 1650. Lydia Perkins died in 1672 at Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts.^1,2 She was buried at Burial Details Unknown.²

     Lydia Perkins was born in 1617 at Rugby Borough, Warwickshire, England.¹ She was the daughter of Isaac Perkins Sr. and Alice (?) Lydia Perkins married Francis Pabody in 1640.² Lydia Perkins died in 1649 at Hampton, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire.¹ She was buried at Burial Details Unknown.¹

Lt. Francis Peabody married (1) by 1640, Lydia ____. They lived in Hamption MA & had four children there: Lydia Howlett Perley (bp. 1640), John (b.abt.1642), Joseph (b. abt 1645), & William (b. say 1647).
Francis Peabody moved from Hampton to Topsfield in 1650, probably consequest to his 2nd marriage to the widow, Mary (Foster) Wood, whose 1st husband died at Ipswich by 27 Mar 1649. Since there are no records for the death of his 1st wife & his marriage to his 2nd wife, some uncertainty remains as to the allocation of his 14 children between the 2 wives.
In his will, he made bequests to his sons in the following sequence: John, Joseph, William, son-in-law [i.e. stepson] Daniel Wood, Isaac, Jacob, & Nathaniel. From depositions, we know that John was born about 1642 & Joseph about 1645, making them the oldest. From Topsfield vital records, we know that Jacob was born in 1664 & Nathaniel in 1689, making them the youngest. We conclude that in his will Francis Peabody named his sons in birth order. The insertion of the stepson between the wst 3 sons & the last 3 sons suggests that John, Joseph & William were with his 1st wife, Lydia, & that Isaac, Jacob & Nathaniel were with his 2nd wife, Mary.
Francis Peabody then named his daughters in the following order: Lydia Perley, Mary Death, Sarah How, & Hepzibah Ray. Lydia was baptised at Hampton in 1640 & was clearly the oldest. We assume again that the testator named his daughters in birth order. This does not tell us, however, which of these daughters were with the 1st wife 7 which with the 2nd. The difficulty lies with the daughter Mary, whose 1st child was born in 1670 (assuming that she was the only wife of John Death), which would suggest a year of birth about 1650, vert close to the date of death of the 1st husband of the 2nd wife of Francis, & also very close to the date of the family's move from Hampton to Topsfield, which, as noted above, may have been consequent to his remarriage. Since this daughter was given the same name as the 2nd wife, we propose that she was the 1st child of the 2nd wife, recognizing that his conclusion could benefit from further evidence.

Mabel Violella Perkins married Charles Lancaster Jones on 5 March 1903 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.³ Mabel Violella Perkins died on 18 July 1925 at Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota, at age 46.^4,2 She was buried on 21 July 1925 at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.^4,2

Miss Mabel B. Perkins and Charles L. Jones were united in marriage at 5 o'clock this afternoon at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. V.E. Perkins, on West Fourth street. Rev. W.C. Rice of Faribault, performed the ceremony 'midst a profusion of roses and carnations. The other decorations were smilax and ferns. The couple was unattended. The bride's gown was blue elamine over silk. A wedding supper was served at which were present only immediate relatives. Mrs. A.M. Winn of Chicago and Mrs. H.E. Akenson served the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Jones will depart this evening for Griggsville, Ill., Mr. Jones' old home. From there they will take a trip through the eastern states and in about a month return to Red Wing to make their home. Mr. Jones is connected with Armour & Co., and will hereafter have his headquarters in St. Paul. Dr. Elmer Perkins of New London, Wis., attended the wedding.

Mrs. Mabel V. Jones, a former resident of Red Wing, daughter of Mrs. T.E. Perkins and sister of M.T. Perkins of this city, died Saturday evening at 9:10 o'clock at her home, 4420 York Avenue, Co., Minneapolis. The end came following a lingering illness. Mrs. Jones lived in Featherstone for many years and later in Minneapolis. She was a resident of Red Wing for some time up to a few years ago when she removed to Minneapolis. Six children, all at home, her mother Mrs. T.E. Perkins, her brother M.T. Perkins, Red Wing and two other brothers, Dr. B.T. Perkins, and Dr. E.A. Perkins of Houston, Texas, are left to mourn her loss. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock from her home in Minneapolis and the body will be brought her for burial at Oakwood cemetery.

     Marilyn Joan Perkins was born on 30 December 1933 at Seattle, King Co., Washington. She was the daughter of Charles Howard Perkins and Lucilla Elizabeth Randall. Marilyn Joan Perkins died on 15 August 2006 at California at age 72.

     Marion Arthur Perkins Sr. was born on 1 February 1930 at East Millsboro, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.^1,2 He was the son of Preston Wesley Perkins Sr. and Anna Catherine Harn. Marion Arthur Perkins Sr. married Toby Ann Ferrell. Marion Arthur Perkins Sr. died on 1 December 1984 at Willoughby, Lake Co., Ohio, at age 54.^1,2 He was buried at Mentor Cemetery, Mentor, Lake Co., Ohio.²

     Marion Perkins Jr. is the son of Marion Arthur Perkins Sr. and Toby Ann Ferrell.

     Marjorie Maude Perkins was born on 4 June 1895 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.^3,4 She was the daughter of Marshall Timothy Perkins and Anna Rolfe Purdy. Marjorie Maude Perkins married Clarence G. Johnson on 23 July 1913 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Marjorie Maude Perkins married Thomas John Seiz, son of William G. Seiz and Ellen Mary McGuinn, on 9 August 1955 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota. Marjorie Maude Perkins died on 24 September 1983 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Olmsted Co., Minnesota, at age 88.^5,6,7,4 She was buried on 28 September 1983 at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.^7,5,4 The cause of death was massive intrathoracic hemorrhage, due to a ruptured right pulmonary artery and lung.⁵

Marjorie M. Seiz, 88, 611 Bush St., died Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester where she had been a patient since Wednesday. Born June 4, 1885, in Featherstone Township, she was the daughter of Marshall T. and Anna Perkins. She attended schools in Red Wing. She married Clarence G. "Casey" Johnson in 1913 and the couple lived in St. Paul. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1950, and she moved back to Red Wing in 1952. She had worked at the Emporium Department Store in St. Paul. She married Thomas Seiz and he preceded her in death in 1968. Surviving are one son, Donald W. Johnson, Red Wing; three grand-children; six great-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Her two husbands, five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bedelson Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.⁷

     Marshall H. Perkins was born on 8 July 1897 at Featherstone, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.⁴ He was the son of Marshall Timothy Perkins and Anna Rolfe Purdy. Marshall H. Perkins died on 26 March 1898 at Featherstone, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.⁴ He was buried on 28 March 1898 at Hope Cemetery, Featherstone Twsp., Goodhue Co., Minnesota.⁵ The cause of death was croup.⁵

The eight month old son of Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Perkins died this morning of croup. The funeral services will be held at the home on Monday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. W.C. Rice officiating.⁵

     Marshall Timothy Perkins was also known as M.T. He was born on 28 November 1862 at Featherstone Twsp., Goodhue Co., Minnesota.¹ He was the son of Hartson Ellsworth Perkins and Violet P. Ellsworth. Marshall Timothy Perkins married Anna Rolfe Purdy, daughter of David Willets Purdy and Frances Mary Rolfe, on 17 March 1884 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.² Marshall Timothy Perkins married Lulu M. Harn, daughter of Elisha Lemuel Harn Jr. and Zilpha St. John, circa 27 August 1908 at Ellsworth, Pierce Co., Wisconsin. Marshall Timothy Perkins died on 10 December 1939 at Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota, at age 77.^3,4 He was buried on 13 December 1939 at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, Goodhue Co., Minnesota.⁴ Marshall Timothy Perkins was a farmer and livery stable proprietor.

The H. E. Perkins estate has sold the old homestead in section 9, Featherstone, consisting of 320 acres, where M. T. Perkins has lived for the past five years, to Adolph Thuman, of Rice, for $17,000. The 173 acre farm in section 16 of the same town, where Frank Perkins has resided, has been sold to Henry Herman, of Hay Creek, for $9,000.

Marshall T. Perkins, Red Wing liveryman, was born in Featherstone township November 28, 1862. His parents H. and Violet E. (Ellsworth) Perkins, came from Maine, their native state, in the late 1850's, and purchased a farm in Featherstone, where Hartson carried on farming extensively until some time in the 1870's. He then came to Red Wing, became interested to a greater or less extent in several business ventures, and died in July, 1899. His wife now makes her home in Boston, Mass.
Marshall T. received his education in the schools of his neighborhood, and kept books for his father two years after leaving school. He then for ten years engaged in farming in Featherstone township, on his own account. Following this he made his first venture in the livery business, running a livery and sale stable at Red Wing for three years. He then again returned to Featherstone and farmed five years. In 1906 he opened his present livery at 319 Plum street, which he has since successfully conducted, being a good judge of horse flesh and a fair-minded business man. He is a Republican in politics, and while at Featherstone served as constable and justice of the peace on several occasions .
Mr. Perkins was married March 17, 1884, at Red Wing, to Anna R. Purdy, daughter of David and Mary Frances (Rolfe) Purdy, natives of New York state. They came to America in 1864, and located on a farm in Goodhue township, where they remained for some time, after which they retired and moved to Red Wing, where the mother died. The father is also deceased. To Marshall T. and Anna R. Perkins were born nine children: Edward W.,Nina C., Edna E., Frances V., Ada A., Marjorie C., Delta, Doris and Lawrence. Frances V. is a milliner at St. Paul. The rest live in Red Wing, the four youngest being at home. The other of these children died at Red Wing May 13, 1903, and Mr. Perkins was married again, at Red Wing, August 27, 1908, to Lulu M. Harn, of this city.

"Public transportation within the city was first provided by horse-drawn hacks owned by Marsh Perkins and Albin Almquist. In 1916 John, Carl, Ed, and Herman Dahl started the first full taxi service in Red Wing. They opened an office in a garage in the 200 block of Main Street, starting with four Ford cars. The brothers operated a twenty-four hour service, sleeping two at a time in the office. They met all trains stopping in Red Wing. Six months after they started their taxicab service, Marsh Perkins and Albin Almquist were out of business".

M.T. Perkins, widely known in the community and proprietor of a livery stable business here for many years, passed away at a local hospital Sunday afternoon about 1:30 o'clock. The end was not unexpected. Mr. Perkins had been in poor health for a long time and had been confined to the hospital since July 3, 1938.
He was born in Featherstone on November 28, 1862, and lived in that township until he was about 35 years of age, when he removed to Red Wing where he had since resided. When Mr. Perkins first came to Red Wing from the farm, the family occupied the old A.P. Pierce home and later the residence of Governor L.F. Hubbard, now occupied by the St. John's hospital offices. He often referred to this place as the "old mansion with the $10,000 slate roof." It was in 1896 that Mr. Perkins and his brother, Alfred, established a livery and boarding stable on Third street in the stone building across from the office of The Daily Republican. At one time during his business career Mr. Perkins operated two liveries, one on Plum street and the other in partnership with A.C. Almquist.
Mr. Perkins was gifted with an unusually fine voice. In his younger days he was soloist in the choir of the First Methodist church and was a member of the Perkins Brothers quartet, which won considerable attention. He also appeared in many local amateur productions. He took over the old St. James livery, operating it for many years, later going into the transfer business which he conducted until failing health forced him to retire a number of years ago. He held the contract for carrying mail from the post office here to Hager City, Wis., over an extended period.
Mr. Perkins was a great lover of horses and possessed several valuable animals at one time. Of a congenial nature he made friends with all whom he met and enjoyed the acquaintance of a majority of residents of the city and the nearby community.
On March 17, 1887, he was united in marriage to Anna R. Purdy, who died in 1903. On August 12, 1908 he married Lula Harn Cook. She died about four years ago. He is survived by two sons, Edward, St. Paul, and Lawrence R. Perkins, Huntington Park, Calif., seven daughters, Mrs. G.E. Carlson, Mrs. Carl Adler, Mrs. T.J. Seiz and Mrs. L. Van Deusen, Red Wing; Mrs. W.B. Davis, Oconomowoc, Wis., Mrs. C.G. Johnson, St. Paul, and Mrs. O.C. Harn, Faribault; 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two brothers, Drs. B.T. and E.A. Perkins, Houston, Tex. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Ferrin mortuary with the Rev. J. Wilbert Lillico officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery

     Mary Perkins is the daughter of Homer Leslie Perkins DDS and Lucille Bertha Schroeder.¹ Mary Perkins married John Johnston circa 1987.¹

     Mary Perkins was born in 1615 at Hillmorton, Rugby Borough, Warwickshire, England.² She was the daughter of John Perkins Sr. and Judith Gater.¹ Mary Perkins was baptized on 3 September 1615 at Warwickshire, England. She was born in 1620.¹ She married Capt. Thomas Bradbury in May 1637 at Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts.³ Mary Perkins died on 20 December 1700 at Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.² She died in 1700.¹ She was buried at Salisbury Colonial Burying Ground, Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.² She immigrated on 5 February 1630/31 to Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts.

Mary Perkins was baptized at Hillmorton, Warwickshire, 3 Sep 1615, daughter of JOHN PERKINS. She married Thomas Bradbury by 1637.

They had 11 known children: Wymond, Judith Moody, Thomas, Mary Stanyan, Jane True, Jacob, William, Elizabeth Buss, John, Ann, & Jabez.

She died at Salisbury, 20 Dec 1700.

During the Salem With Trials, she was tried on July 28, 1692 in Salem and in spite of petitions signed and letters written telling of her exemplary life, she was found guilty on Sept. 22, 1692. She said, "I do plead not guilty, I am wholly innocent of such wickedness". Mary was able to escape the gallows by help of friends and family and was not executed. Mary Perkins Bradbury was one of the wealthiest women in Salisbury. The daughter of Ann (Carr) Putnam was one of Mary's accusors of witchcraft. It was well known that the Carr and Bradbury families had fought for years over land which was probably a motive in the accusal and arrest of Mary Bradbury. In 1711, the governor and council of Massachusetts authorized payment of £578.12s to the claimants representing twenty-three persons condemned at Salem, and the heirs of Mary Bradbury received £20. A petition to reverse the attainder of twenty-two of the thirty-one citizens convicted and condemned as a result of the trials was passed by the Massachusetts General Court in 1711. In 1957, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts reversed the stigma placed on all those not covered by earlier orders.
