RENO (Nev.), Oct. 18.—(AP)—Wilhelm Ritschel, noted landscape and marine artist, was granted a divorce here yesterday from Belle Zora Ritschel on the ground of mental cruelty. They married in Riverside, Cal., April 17, 1917, according to the complaint, although the biographical sketch of Ritschel in Who’s Who, gives the marriage as 1900. Says Wife Was Moody. Ritschel said his wife was given to moods of anger and jealous rage and she berated and upbraided him unjustly. She pursued constant nagging, he said, and found fault at every opportunity, making it impossible for him to carry on his profession. A property settlement was made out of court.

In 1918 he began construction on his ocean view studio-home in the Carmel Highlands. This castle-like stone structure was to remain his home for the rest of his life except for trips throughout the world, especially the South Seas where he frequently visited. Oldtimers on the Monterey Peninsula remember him garbed in a flowered sarong and perched on a cypress-covered cliff with brushes and easel. Ritschel died at his Carmel home on March 11, 1949.

Artist Gets Reno Decree, Marriage License Same Day
RENO (Nev.), Oct. Ritschel later took out a license to marry Elanora Havel. She gave her address as Reno.
Says Wife Was Moody. Ritschel said his wife was given to moods of anger and jealous rage and she berated and upbraided him unjustly. She pursued constant nagging, he said, and found fault at every opportunity, making it impossible for him to carry on his profession. A property settlement was made out of court.
Ritschel, a native of Germany, came to this country in 1895.
