Widow sues Chrysler Corp.
BUTTE (AP) - Donna Harrod of Lake County has filed suit in federal court at Butte seeking $400,000 in alleged damages from Chrysler Corp.
The suit is in connection with the death of the woman's husband, Lee, in a May 12, 1974, traffic mishap.
The complaint says Mrs. Harrod was traveling north on Highway 93 In Lake County in a 1973 Chrysler when the steering wheel failed to rotate while she was making a right turn.
Mrs. Harrod alleges a foreign brass object left in the steering gear box during manufacturing and caused the malfunction and resulted in the accident in which her 43-year-oîd husband was killed.

Crash is basis of second suit
The Chrysler Corp. was named defendant in a $376,469.75 Missoula suit filed In Butte federal court Tuesday by a Lake County woman whose husband died in an auto crash in May 1974.
The suit is the second filed by Donna Harrod against the auto manufacturer. The other is a $400,000 suit filed in April.
Both suits claim the accident which claimed the life of her husband was caused by a foreign brass object left in the steering gear box, preventing her from turning the wheel on her 1973 Chrysler as she drove around a curve on U.S. 93 in Lake County.

Dawna was born October 26, 1932, to Harry and Vera (Dupuis) Voorhies at the family home in Polson, MT. Dawna graduated from Polson High School. She met and married Lee Harrod on June 14, 1949, and they had four children together. Lee passed away in May 1974. Dawna enjoyed fishing and gardening. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Dawna was preceded in death by her husband Lee, parents Harry and Vera Voorhies, sister Frankie Buck, and granddaughter Jodi Anne. Dawna is survived by her children Brad Harrod, Debbie Harrod, Kathy Harrod, and Jim (Jody) Harrod, sister Madge Vert, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great- grandchildren. She is also survived by her companion Jeff Dodgson. A rosary will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 7:00 pm at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory. Frances “Fran” Dianne Buck, 85, passed away peacefully on Dec. 4, 2002, at Edgewood Vista Memory Care surrounded by her loved ones.

Fran was born on Dec. 25, 1936, in St. Ignatius, Montana to Harry and Vera Voorhies. She graduated from Polson High School. She married and had three children. She later remarried and had one more child.

Fran was a homemaker and full-time mother. She did a wonderful job making sure the home was always clean and tidy along with homemade meals. She loved reading, gardening, animals, and mostly she loved her family.

Fran also enjoyed going to Saturday evening Mass where, most often, she greeted others at the door. She was a friend to many. A mom and grandma to many whom she loved. She is loved and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel, of 53 years; her children Michael, Danielle, Richard, and Jared (Melanie); her sisters, Madge and Dawna; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 15 at Risen Christ Parish in Evergreen at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon and burial at Glacier Memorial Gardens. Friends are encouraged to visit the website www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolences for the family.

George W. Voorhis died Tuesday, January 1, at his home in the First ward, Paola. Last summer he had an attack of heart trouble, from which he never recovered.
Mr. Voorhis was born in New York City September 24, 1830, and when a child went with his parents to Knox-co., Ohio. In 1858 he went to Iowa, where the following year he was married to Calista J. Dingee. In the fall of 1880 they moved to Nemaha-co., Nebraska, from where they came to Paola in the spring of 1902. Mr. Voorhis was an honest man and a good citizen, a member of the Methodist church for many years. During his residence in Paola he made numerous acquaintances and warm friends. With his wife he is survived by a daughter and three sons, one son, A. C. Voorhis, residing on a farm in Marysville-twp. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. Thos. E. Chandler, pastor of the Methodist church, were held from the residence Wednesday afternoon. The remains, accompanied by his wife and son, were taken to Johnson, Nebraska, for burial.

Mr. Voorhies was born in Mullan, Idaho, in 1904. He moved to the Niarada area as a boy and to Polson in 1927. He married Vera Dupuis in Polson in 1927.
He was a heavy equipment operator in the logging industry until his retirement.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Madge Vert and Mrs. Donna Harrod, both of Polson and Mrs. Frances Buck of Kalispell; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Tami Avison (Ken), Polson, Wesley Thomas Vert Jr. (Sadie) Spokane, WA, Steve Vert, Polson, and Chris Vert Seattle, WA.She was a military wife for 21 years with her husband. After his retirement from the Air Force, they returned to Polson to make their home. She and Wes worked many different jobs. Madge worked at the B & B Variety for years. Also, with Bjork Oil in the office. As Well as the MVP Office.Madge and Wes owned and operated the Montgomery Ward Catalog Center. She and Wes traveled in their motorhome across the US and spent winters in the Southwest which they cherished.She was proceeded in death by her parents and two sisters Dawna (Voorhies) Harrod, Fances (Voorhies) Buck and son-in-law Ken Avison. She was also proceeded by her husband of 71 years and her son Wesley (Tom) Thomas Vert Jr.She is survived by her three children, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. There will be a funeral mass for Madge's life on August 20th, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson at 2:00pm with a reception to follow.
