Alan Keith Sprouse, 81, passed away on Aug. 26, 2012, at home in Palm Springs after a valiant battle with cancer.

Keith, as he was known, was born to Argus C. and Ruth Walters Sprouse on April 5, 1931 in Monessen, Pa. He graduated from Ohio University in 1954, where he was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. Keith met his wife, Dorothy, on the Athens, Ohio, campus.

Keith proudly served in the Marine Corps, where he was commissioned as a captain. Later, he spent 25 years as a sales manager for Kaiser Aluminum, which involved numerous relocations, including West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Lake Bluff, Ill. He then retired to Sanibel Island, Florida where he spent many hours fishing and boating, as well as watching wildlife at Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. After 18 years at the beach, Keith and Dorothy moved to Waynesville, N.C.

Keith never stopped reading and learning; he renewed a passion for art in his seventies. He also enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states, as well as Europe and Central America.

Keith is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Sprouse (Magneson). Keith cherished his children Cecily (Phil) Martin of Davis; Kristi (Rod) Moseanko of Davis; and Eric (Tracey) Sprouse of Venice, Fla. Also surviving Keith is his sister, Janice Dalton of Laurel, Md. Keith’s quick wit was appreciated and adored by his four grandchildren, Jessica Martin of Washington, D.C., and Ricky Martin, Joey Moseanko and Taylor Moseanko, all of Davis.

Keith’s incredible sense of humor and deep love of family will always be remembered by family and friends.

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, in the Fireside Room of Davis Community Church, 412 C St. A private interment will follow at the Davis Cemetery.

His specialty was the software development process: project management, Quality Assurance through statistical process control. He has lived in Montana since about 1987. Since retiring, Howard likes to hunt and ski.

In 1988, Howard adopted Suzanne's son, Matthew.

In email from Howard Squires in June 2019: "Matthew decided to become a doctor and is doing his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital. He and his wife Avin have four children and one on the way so we followed the grandchildren."

Howard J. Squires, 92, was born December 29, 1930 in Montgomery, MN and passed away after a brief illness on January 10, 2023 in Cape Coral, FL. He was a former resident of Orford, NH and, along with
his late wife Suzanne Squires, an active parishioner of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hanover, NH.

Howard was a Lt. Commander in the US Navy (Ret) with 21 years of exemplary ser vice. He was preceded in death by his second wife of 42 years, Suzanne M. Squires; parents Gordon J. Squires and Stella M. Vrzal Squires; granddaughter Lynn Marie (Gravett) Acker; sisters Beverly E. Stumpf, Jeanne M. Stocco and brother Robert G. Squires.

He is survived by brother D. Joseph Squires; children Paula Galvan (Luis), Mary Faith, Leslie, Lisa Gravett (Pete), Grace, Christopher and Matthew C. Squires M.D. (Avin); 11 grand- children, 11 great grandchildren and a wonderful dog, Suzy.

Howard's Navy career spanned from 1948 to 1969, serving on many ships and aviation planes. He was an avid hunter, reader, skier and blue grass music lover. He had 48.5 years of sobriety under his belt, and was a leader and participant of many AA groups in his lifetime.

His life was full of travel, but the best places he traveled to were to visit his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. They will fondly remember his fun games, wise one-liners, funny tales, boisterous laughter, delicious "dad eggs" recipe, and his compassionate, loving spirit. These cherished memories
will be passed along to future generations.

Howard lived in many states, but his last 2 plus years were spent in Florida where he was able to smell the salt air and feel the waves under his feet again.

The family would like to thank Dr. Merany and her staff of the Cape Coral VA for the care and support they provided him. A funeral service in Howard's honor will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church. 2628 Del Prado Blvd S Cape Coral, FL
