William H. Purdy, for more than thirty years a resident of Goodhue county, died on Saturday evening at nine o'clock, at the home of his brother, S.H. Purdy, on East avenue, after a week's illness with kidney troubles. Mr. Purdy was born in Tompkins county, New York, sixty-seven years ago. He came to Minnesota in 1861 and soon after settled at Hader in Wanamingo, where for many years he conducted the Hader house, winning a host of friends among all who came in contact with him. About ten years ago his wife died. A few years since Mr. Purdy retired from active life. He resided for a time at West Superior, and later made his home in this city with his brother, S.H. Purdy. Funeral services were held this afternoon at half past one o'clock at the house and at two o'clock at Christ church, Rev. C.C. Rollit and Rev. C.H. Plummer officiating.
