Company, (D,) 100 Regiment of Indiana Infantry Volunteers, who was enrolled on the 22 day of August one thousand eight hundred and Sixty Two to serve Three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this Eight day of June, 1865, at Washington D.C. by reason of Expiration of Term of Service. (No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist*.) Said Jonas Ruple was born in Elkhart Co. in the State of Indiana, is 29 years of age, 5 feet 7 ½ inches high, Dark complexion, Grey eyes, Brown hair, and by occupation when enrolled, a Farmer. Given at Washington, D.C. this Eight day of June 1865. William (?) Venamon(?) Capt Regt Inf Vols Compy *This sentence will be erased should there be anything in the conduct or physical condition of the soldier rendering him unfit for the Army. He was born on 11 November 1832 at Michigan.3 He was the son of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). Jonas Ruple married Lydia (?) circa 1856.4 Jonas Ruple married Samantha E. Boyd circa 1896. Jonas Ruple died on 1 April 1905 at Penn Twsp., Cass Co., Michigan, at age 72.3 The cause of death was Apoplexy, secondary cause was old age.3 He was buried on 4 April 1905 at Friends Cemetery, Michigan.3

She was the daughter of Jacob Rupel and Catherine Griffith. Mary Ruple married Andrew Longley, son of John Longley and Francis Bird, on 12 October 1845 at Elkhart Co., Indiana. Mary Ruple died on 15 August 1914 at Clay Twsp., St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 86.2,1

Mrs. Mary Rupel Longley, aged 87 years, died this morning at 10 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.M.Shimp in Clay township. Death followed a gradual breaking in health of several months' duration which was caused by advanced age. Mrs. Longley was born in Summerset county, Pennsylvania September 26, 1827, but had lived in this vicinity nearly all her life, coming here when about nine years old. She was a member of the Christian Advent Church. Mrs. Longley is survived by three children, Mrs. Shimp, at whose home she died, Mrs. Gabriel R. Summers and William H. Longley, both of South Bend. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

     Mary Ruple was also known as Polly. She was born on 17 April 1808 at Pennsylvania.1 She married Esten McClintic. Mary Ruple was the daughter of John Rupel and Elizabeth Bird (Byrd). Mary Ruple died on 9 May 1896 at Indiana at age 88.1 She was buried at McClintic Cemetery, Syracuse, Kosciusko Co., Indiana.1 Ruple Family in America, 1988, by Jack D. Ruple Sr., pg 140.

Wade on 8 September 1940 at Marcellus, Cass Co., Michigan.1 Mary and Gale had five children. Mary Elizabeth Ruple died on 23 November 1989 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 68.2 She was buried at Bly Cemetery, Marcellus, Cass Co., Michigan.2
