Newport-Ruth Ann Marlatt, 68, died Wednesday.
She was born in North Bend. She lived in Langlois for many years before moving to Portland. She then moved to Newport two years ago.
She was a homemaker and an instructional aide for Halladay Center for the Handicapped, retiring in 1985. She was a charter member of the Clackamas Park Friends Church and a current member of the Newport Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband Donald; daughters, Kathryn Wildhaber of Troutdale, Candace Deswert of Portland; son, Donald Jr. of Portland; brothers, James Everest of Milwaukie, Richard Everest of Langlois, and William Everest of Coos Bay; sisters Jean Smith of North Bend, and Francis Hooten of Coos Bay; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Newport church. Private interment will be in Yachats Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bateman mortuary. Contributions: Alabaster Fund at the Newport Church of the Nazarene or to Pacific Communities Hospital Foundation for Hospice.3 She was buried at Yachats Memorial Park, Yachats, Lincoln Co., Oregon.3,4

Bill Everest passed away in Coos Bay, OR at Bay Area Hospital on January 12, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. with family at his side. His death was due to a stroke and stroke related complications. Bill was 78 at the time of his death. He was born in Bandon on November 29, 1938 to Joseph I. & Frances R. Everest. He lived with his family until 1999 when he was able to live independently in a small apartment. He attended Mrs. Roeker’s Alameda Private School in Portland until 1956. In 1956 he attended Boy’s Farm Home School in Cave Junction where he learned to read and write. Bill worked in Coos Bay at Good Will in 1976 where he learned to run the baler for baling cardboard. In 1979 he moved to Portland with his mother where he worked Portland Habilitation. In recent years he has been employed by Star of Hope, operating their paper shredder. Bill was a very good employee and continually worked at being a safe and careful worker. Recently Star of Hope discontinued the paper shredding business due to restrictions put on them by the State of Oregon and Bill was then out of a job. He was heart broken when this happened, but remained living at one of Star of Hope’s group homes, which is a living facility for the handicapped. Bill loved music. He attended the Bay Area Community Band Concerts and other musical events in the area. He participated in Special Olympics and enjoyed his weekly bowling. Everyone who met Bill loved him and he will be missed immensely. Donations in memory of Bill can be made to Star of Hope, 657 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay, OR 97420 for their love and care of Bill and others in the community. God Bless them for their tireless efforts in making the life of the handicapped so much better. Bill is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dick & Barbara of Langlois and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Frances Everest, three sisters , Ruth, Jean and Fran and brother, James. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Denmark Cemetery in Langlois and a Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the North Bend Senior Center, 1470 Airport Ln, North Bend.3 He was buried at Denmark Cemetery, Langlois, Curry Co., Oregon.2

Surviving are two sons: Lance Eyer (Katie) of Meyersdale and Joshua Eyer (Amanda) of Altoona; a daughter, Tasha Stotler of Altoona; five grandchildren; three brothers: Timothy and Samuel Eyer, both of Altoona, and Charles Eyer in California; and two sisters: Viola Thomas of Morrisdale and Tina Louise Crostley of Altoona.S
he was preceded in death by two brothers: Terry and Fay Eyer; and her longtime companion, James Stotler.
Ellen had been employed by H.H. Brown Shoe Co. Inc., formerly Cove Shoe Co., in Martinsburg for the past 15 years and was a member of First Church of Christ, Altoona. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, in Stevens Memorial Chapel, The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. Laura Hampson Eyler was born on 24 October 1921 at Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina.1,2,3 She graduated in 1937 at Western High School, Baltimore, Maryland.2 She graduated in 1941 at University of Maryland - College of Agriculture, College Park, Prince George's Co., Maryland, bachelor of science degree in botany.2 She married Robert Dubois Rappleye, son of Howard Snyder Rappleye and Nettie Louise Brewer, on 30 December 1941.1 Laura Hampson Eyler lived in 1962 at Washington, District of Columbia, District of Columbia. The cause of death was cancer.2 She died on 21 April 1992 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, New Castle Co., Delaware, at age 70.2

Mrs. Rappleye, who grew up in Baltimore, died of cancer Tuesday at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. She was 70.
Born in Charlotte, N.C., she moved to Baltimore as a young child. She advanced quickly through school, graduating in 1937 from Western High School at age 15.
She then became one of the youngest students and one of a very few women admitted to the University of Maryland college of agriculture. She received a bachelor of science degree in botany in 1941.
During World War II, she taught a variety of subjects in the St. Mary's County school system. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, she lived in College Park and worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Beltsville research center.
From 1962, she taught biology to students at DuVal and Parkdale High schools in Prince George's County. After her retirement in 1977, she moved from College Park to South Bethany Beach, Del.
In the early 1940s, she married Robert D. Rappleye. He died in 1986.
She was a former Girl Scout leader and past president of the College Park branch of the American Association of University Women.
She is survived by a son, Robert D. Rappleye II of Ocean City; a daughter, Lauralee Rappleye-Marsett of New Castle, Del; two brothers, George M. Eyler of Pikesville and John D. Eyler Jr. of North Palm Beach, Fla; and four grandchildren.
The family suggests contributions to the American Association of University Women, Georgetown branch local scholarship fund, 209 W. 11th St., South Bethany Beach, Del. 19930.
