When it came to her babies; Cheryl made sure never missed a birthday, holiday, family vacation, camping trip, boat ride or a chance to just spoil them by hanging out or taking them to the parks and swimming pools. She always looked forwards to attending as many of their sporting events and school programs that she could. When she wasn’t spending time with her babies, she was hanging out and telling stories with her friends, playing bingo, doing crafts, shopping or finding any excuse to drive.
Preceding her in death was her Grandparents; Parents; sons Charles R.J. Turk; Chad A. Turk; David D. Turk; Nephews Christopher Bullington; Beau Bullinton; Aunt Betty Howell; Uncle George Struck; and Brother-In-Law Terry Halbert.
She is survived by her husband Huey E. Bruce Trevor Bullock, 80, passed away surround by his loving family on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at his home in Woodland.
Bruce was born on April 27, 1930, in Omaha, Neb., to Dr. Trevor Wilson Bullock, and Hazel Ella (Russell) Bullock. The family moved to California when Bruce was four months old. Dr. Bullock taught at the USC School of Dentistry, before opening his dental practice in Lomita. Bruce grew up and attended schools in Redondo Beach, and graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1948. He attended El Camino Junior College before transferring to Arizona State College in Flagstaff, Ariz.
In 1951, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Ft. Ord, and Ft. Armstrong in Hawaii. He ran the small animal hospital at Ft. Armstrong. He was honorably discharged in 1953 as a corporal after 16 months of service.
Bruce attended Long Beach City College, majoring in speech, debate and forensics. He was active with the LBCC Debate Team. It was at LBCC that he met his future bride, Margaret Elizabeth Rupel. They both transferred to Long Beach State College, and married on Feb. 5, 1956. Bruce and Margaret graduated in June 1957, one week after their first son, Scott Trevor Bullock, was born. Bruce majored in speech and English, and obtained a Speech Therapy Credential and a Secondary Teaching Credential. Their second son, Robert Bruce Bullock, was born in 1959 in Long Beach. Bruce received his master's degree in English from Long Beach State College in 1961.
Bruce was a speech therapist in Torrance for three years. In 1961, the family moved to Woodland, where Bruce became an English and Debate teacher at Woodland High School where he taught for 30 years. He became the class adviser and English Department chairman. In addition, Bruce became a life member of the Woodland Education Association, California Teachers Association, and National Education Association. Bruce served as chairman for the negotiating team for WEA for several years.
During this time, another son, John Russell Bullock, was born in 1963. Their daughter, Julia Patricia Bullock, was born in 1964.
In 1972, Bruce received a National Science Foundation grant to attend Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo, Mich. During this six-week sociology seminar, Bruce developed the entire curriculum for Human Development, which was a family life semester course. He taught this course for 20 years at Woodland High. In addition, Bruce taught U.S. History and Government at the high school. He retired in 1991.
Bruce was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed fishing and camping off the Northern California Coast at Shelter cove. He enjoyed woodworking and repairing classic cars. Bruce rode Harley-Davidson motorcycles for more than 60 years. For almost 10 years, Bruce flew his own airplane, a Cessna 206, and enjoyed taking his family to various parts of the United States.
In addition to his educational affiliations, Bruce was a member of the Carlton Club of woodland, the Cal Retired Teacher's Association, and was the executive secretary of the OFC.
Bruce volunteered for 12 years with the Yolo County Ombudsman Association, and represented patients in nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Bullock; son, Robert Bullock of Woodland; and his son, John and wife Sandra Bullock of Citrus Heights; daughter, Julia and husband Anthony Peralta of Murrieta; sister, Patricia June and husband Clifford June of Redondo Beach; grandchildren, Trevor Scott Bullock of Auburn, Kayla Maria Peralta, Nolan Anthony Peralta and Davis Scott Peralta of Murrieta. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Trevor Bullock, U.S. Army.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, 1324 Columbia Drive, Woodland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bruce Bullock's memory go to the Scholarship Fund, California Retired Teachers Association, Yolo Division No. 83, 1525 Redwood Lane, Davis, 95616.

In 1951, Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Ft. Ord, and Ft. Armstrong in Hawaii. He ran the small animal hospital at Ft. Armstrong. He was honorably discharged in 1953 as a corporal after 16 months of service.
Bruce attended Long Beach City College, majoring in speech, debate and forensics. He was active with the LBCC Debate Team. It was at LBCC that he met his future bride, Margaret Elizabeth Rupel. They both transferred to Long Beach State College, and married on Feb. 5, 1956. Bruce and Margaret graduated in June 1957, one week after their first son, Scott Trevor Bullock, was born. Bruce majored in speech and English, and obtained a Speech Therapy Credential and a Secondary Teaching Credential. Their second son, Robert Bruce Bullock, was born in 1959 in Long Beach. Bruce received his master's degree in English from Long Beach State College in 1961.
Bruce was a speech therapist in Torrance for three years. In 1961, the family moved to Woodland, where Bruce became an English and Debate teacher at Woodland High School where he taught for 30 years. He became the class adviser and English Department chairman. In addition, Bruce became a life member of the Woodland Education Association, California Teachers Association, and National Education Association. Bruce served as chairman for the negotiating team for WEA for several years.
During this time, another son, John Russell Bullock, was born in 1963. Their daughter, Julia Patricia Bullock, was born in 1964.
In 1972, Bruce received a National Science Foundation grant to attend Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo, Mich. During this six-week sociology seminar, Bruce developed the entire curriculum for Human Development, which was a family life semester course. He taught this course for 20 years at Woodland High. In addition, Bruce taught U.S. History and Government at the high school. He retired in 1991.
Bruce was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed fishing and camping off the Northern California Coast at Shelter cove. He enjoyed woodworking and repairing classic cars. Bruce rode Harley-Davidson motorcycles for more than 60 years. For almost 10 years, Bruce flew his own airplane, a Cessna 206, and enjoyed taking his family to various parts of the United States.
In addition to his educational affiliations, Bruce was a member of the Carlton Club of woodland, the Cal Retired Teacher's Association, and was the executive secretary of the OFC.
Bruce volunteered for 12 years with the Yolo County Ombudsman Association, and represented patients in nursing homes and skilled nursing facilities.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Bullock; son, Robert Bullock of Woodland; and his son, John and wife Sandra Bullock of Citrus Heights; daughter, Julia and husband Anthony Peralta of Murrieta; sister, Patricia June and husband Clifford June of Redondo Beach; grandchildren, Trevor Scott Bullock of Auburn, Kayla Maria Peralta, Nolan Anthony Peralta and Davis Scott Peralta of Murrieta. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Trevor Bullock, U.S. Army.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Woodland Presbyterian Church, 1324 Columbia Drive, Woodland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bruce Bullock's memory go to the Scholarship Fund, California Retired Teachers Association, Yolo Division No. 83, 1525 Redwood Lane, Davis, 95616.
